Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, which has realized its investments by valuing nature and living things, continues its fish release activities within the scope of Izmit Bay Fishing Project. The fish release ceremony, which was held on many beaches of the Gulf before, was held this time in Karamürsel Ereğli Beach. In the ceremony held with the participation of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, 6 thousand juvenile fish were released into the sea.

INTENSIVE PARTICIPATION

The Karamürsel Fish Release Ceremony started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, Karamürsel District Governor Osman Aslan Canbaba, TAGEM General Manager Metin Türker, Karamürsel Mayor İsmail Yıldırım, Gölcük Mayor Ali Yıldırım Sezer, Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality Hasan Aydınlık. , Fisheries Central Research Institute Director Ercan Küçük, Chamber of Shipping Kocaeli Branch President Vedat Doğusel, Kocaeli City Council Secretary General Sedat Köse, AK Party Karamürsel District President Sait Mete, actor Alp Kırşan, students, citizens and members of the press.

“WE STARTED TO DO SERIOUSLY SOMETHING FOR THE GULF”

Stating that they came together for the sixth time to bring life to the Gulf and revitalize the ecosystem, Chairman Büyükakın said, “We really started to do something for the Gulf and we continue with determination. The issue has several dimensions. First of all, we are facing something called the global climate crisis. This is something that goes beyond the word climate change now. Look, for 2 days, the managers and heads of state of the whole world who are interested in these issues have gathered in Egypt and they are talking about the need to do something about the global climate crisis. It was there from day one. We talk all the time, but we do not do what is necessary. That was the main theme. The second thing is: You have to spend money to get these things done. We need to reduce carbon emissions. It was said that less carbon needs to be met with zero carbon targets. Now we adults have to change our lives. We need our children's guidance. It is necessary to produce less waste, reuse and recycle. If we do not do this, the world will become uninhabitable. If we do not prevent 1,5 degrees of warming, there will be more disasters and the world will become uninhabitable. There is already an increase in the frequency of disasters," he said.

“WE HAVE 45 DAYS OF WATER”

Mayor Büyükakın said, “We currently have 45 days of water in our dam. Don't worry, we can draw water from Sapanca from the line connected to our dam. But, dear young people, think like this, if Sapanca dries up, where will we get water? If the rains do not fall as we want, where will we find drinking water? What will we do if these rains do not rain for a long time and then it rains quickly. No city's infrastructure can handle 40-50 kilograms of precipitation. In fact, we use more than we can as human beings. There is a concept called overshoot. The limit day is the consumption of the amount that people should consume in a year. In this concept, which emerged in the 1970s, the day of exceeding the limit was in December, now in July. We are consuming from this future. The world cannot go on like this. The universe has an order within itself. The universe will protect itself. We must change our minds. Otherwise, he will not be able to live in this world alive.”

“WE HAVE LEFT 30 THOUSAND FISHES TO THE SEA SO FAR”

President Büyükakın said, “Here we try not to pollute our sea first. Secondly, we carry out fishing activities to increase the number of species and increase their number. We have released 30 thousand fish into the sea so far. We also follow the fish we leave in this sea. We also know that they are caught, and we even receive photos from our fishermen. Our fish here have chips on them. Through those chips, we also monitor the life of these fish in the sea. They only live in the sea once, everyone be sure of that. Our sea is not as polluted as it used to be. If it is accepted in the upcoming period, we will apply for the blue flag both for this place and for our Golden Kemer Beach behind us.”

“WE ARE HOSTING A VERY IMPORTANT PROGRAM”

Speaking at the program, TAGEM General Manager Metin Türker said, “I am very pleased to be in the fishing program we organized for the sixth time. We are witnessing a very important event together. In particular, our country has come a long way in terms of fisheries and aquaculture. We have great potential with our natural lakes, dams, seas and streams. We have doubled our production and reached an export income of 1.4 billion dollars. We have enormous potential. TAGEM is the largest research institution of our country. We have duties to protect the ecosystem, from plant and animal production to their health, to determine the amount of fish and to maintain a sustainable environment. We are at the service of the fishing industry with our 170 research institutes. Sea bass and sea bream were raised by the Mediterranean Fisheries Research Institute.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Karamürsel Mayor İsmail Yıldırım, who stated that he was pleased to have such a beautiful program in Karamürsel, said, “For hundreds of years, human beings have tried to use the blessings bestowed upon them. The ruthlessness and arrogance of mankind have made us use the blessings so much that we are in need of them today. There has been a trend in the world. We started to respect nature, environment, nature and animals. As if it was something new. In our childhood, this Gulf was a different place with its deep blue, fish and people swimming in it. With the beginning of the 1980s, we lost the Gulf with the policies implemented by the rulers of that day, knowingly or unknowingly. I sincerely thank all our friends, especially our Metropolitan Mayor, who started and continued this project.”

“THIS ORGANIZATION SERVES SCIENCE ALSO”

Actor Alp Kırşan, who stated that he was happy to have such a good program in Karamürsel, said, “I was very excited when the information about the release of fry fish came. This is future oriented. When we release these baby fish into the sea, they grow and multiply. I would like to thank Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality for pioneering this. I have two sons and the first thing I taught them was fishing. A child who learns to fish learns to feed himself, to have a profession. Apart from being a family man, the child who takes my love of fish as an example is a source of pride for me. We will release 6 fry to the Gulf. As far as we can see, there are chips on the fish. We also follow. In other words, this organization also serves science.”

6 THOUSAND SEA BEACH, SHIELD AND CUPRA RELEASED TO THE SEA

President Büyükakın, protocol, students and citizens released fish at the end of the program. 6 thousand juvenile fish of the Sea Bass, Kalkan and Sea Bass species were released into the sea from the Ereğli Coast. Thus, the number of juvenile fish released into the Gulf of Izmit reached 36 thousand.
