The 2nd Korkut Ata Turkish World Film Festival Ended with the Award Ceremony

Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Bursa, the Cultural Capital of the Turkish World, the “2. The award ceremony of the Korkut Ata Turkish World Film Festival was held.

As part of the ceremony held at Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, the performance of the Fire of Anatolia dance group was appreciated by the participants.

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that their first thought since the idea stage of the festival was to reveal the richness of culture through the cinema screen, and to realize this with the highest possible participation and therefore diversity.

Reminding that 13 cinema works from 42 countries met with the audience in the first year, Ersoy noted that this year they raised the bar a little higher with 17 works from 52 countries.

Ersoy continued as follows:

“Hopefully, we will surpass these figures in the next festival. Our Korkut Ata, who is a monument to Turkish customs, traditions and customs, used kopuz to his word and spoke like that. The tribes were ancestral. When art and craft are the language and work of the sage, the most valuable works emerge, reach the widest audience, and take their place in hearts and minds. Korkut Ata's legend that when the kopuz starts to play, the wind stops, the mountains rise, the birds do not fly, and the waters do not flow, is a unique description made by our people. Although this description originally depicts the spiritual level of Korkut Ata, the fact that all nature, together with man, listens to what he says, reminds me of the phenomenon of universality. Moreover, despite the changes in time, place and events, the fact that the values that Dede Korkut nurtured do not change shows us the most accurate definition of universality.”

Emphasizing that universality is not breaking away from its essence and values, Ersoy said, “On the contrary, it is being able to stick to them. If you reach universality with your difference, you are valuable. Rather than being like everyone else, it is essential to be an example and pioneer for everyone. Let's not forget, the deeper the root of the tree goes into the soil, the wider it spreads, the greater its height and splendor, the more inclusive the shadow of its branches will be. he said.

“I sincerely congratulate my young brothers”

Ersoy stated that the festival was organized with the theme of “Nature” this year and continued his words as follows:

“At the festival, our artists opened new windows to the world that we do not own but are a part of. It is really exciting to see how unique national cultures, especially Turkish culture, can make a difference. I think that as long as we know our original and keep our perception as broad as possible, it will be easier for us to explain ourselves and be understood. And we have a lot to say to the world. We have made art and cinema interpreters, and we will continue to talk and explain. This year, we held the second Turkish World Cinema Summit with Korkut Ata Turkish World Film Festival. At the summit held yesterday, a strong will was demonstrated in order to evaluate cultural and artistic cooperation opportunities. The way and method were determined by exchanging ideas on the question of how we can serve our purpose of strengthening our common historical, cultural and social values with cinema.”

Explaining that they wish to take the joint steps set forth in the declaration they signed last year as soon as possible, Ersoy said:

“Hopefully, we will quickly turn ideas into actions and works. This year, most importantly, our young people, who are the assurance of the steps we have taken and are taking, had the opportunity to show themselves. We hosted two students each from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Tatarstan in Turkey. Together with their friends here, they shot one-minute documentary films. These turned into a 10-minute documentary. I would like to thank everyone who guided and guided our students in this study. Congratulations to my young brothers. Remember, success and failure go side by side on the same road. Know how to live and overcome both correctly so that these feelings do not stop you at one point. Have the determination to make continuous progress. Be patient, stubborn, and always in search of your path. When you look back after the years spent with this awareness, you will see that everything you live and do is a gain.”

Minister Ersoy congratulated the artists who received awards in the categories of "Featured Fiction Film", "Documentary Film", "Loyalty" and "Honorary Award" at the festival.

Congratulating those who contributed to the organization of the festival, Ersoy said, “This 2022-day culture and cinema feast in 5 Turkish World Culture Capital Bursa is coming to an end for now. Of course, this is not goodbye. We are only contracting to meet at the third of the Korkut Ata Turkish World Film Festival, wishing for more participants and more films. I wish that our unity and solidarity under the roof of this art will be forever. I hope that our native Montenegrins will not be destroyed, and our rough trees will not be cut down in the shade.” used the phrase.
