Turkey's leading company in the production of tactical mini UAV systems, STM, and Turkey's rocket and missile production center, ROKETSAN, have joined forces to develop the Intelligent Roaming Ammunition System ALPAGUT, which will change the balance in the war environment. ALPAGUT, which will be developed with the partnership of two major companies of the defense industry, stands out with its cost-effectiveness and operational flexibility compared to cruise missiles.
The use and importance of Intelligent Loitering Munitions in wars and conflicts has been increasing in recent years. With this increasing importance, ROKETSAN and STM, the two leading companies of the Turkish defense industry, joined forces and started working to develop ALPAGUT with the aim of meeting this need with a new and effective solution.
ALPAGUT Showcased at Field Expo
The launch ceremony of the Smart Circling Ammunition System ALPAGUT, which was introduced for the first time at SAHA EXPO, was attended by the President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, ROKETSAN Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Faruk Yiğit, ROKETSAN General Manager Murat Second and STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the cooperation protocol of ALPAGUT, President of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said, “The two important institutions of the Turkish defense industry, ROKETSAN and STM, have joined forces for the smart circulating ammunition system ALPAGUT. ALPAGUT, which is an important reflection of our national engineering experience in this field, will be an effective force against radar and communication systems, critical facilities such as command centers and opportunity targets as well as land and sea targets. Good luck,” he said.
ROKETSAN General Manager Murat Iki said, “As a result of our successful cooperation with STM, we are bringing this technology, which is suitable for the changing concepts of the war field, to Turkey. We can already see that ALPAGUT, which we developed primarily to meet the needs of our Turkish Armed Forces and security forces, will also have a significant export potential and will reinforce Turkey's leading role in the defense industry.
STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz said, “We are taking STM's experience and competence in the field of smart ammunition to a different level with the cooperation of ROKETSAN. We consider that ALPAGUT will be a game changer and a striking force in the field for the armies of friendly and brotherly countries, especially our security forces.”
It Will Hit The Target Unnoticed
ALPAGUT, which will be able to operate day and night, will create an effective force against mobile or fixed land and sea targets, radar and communication systems, lightly armored land or sea vehicles, critical facilities such as command centers, personnel and opportunity targets.
ALPAGUT, which will have an operational radius of 60 kilometers, an airtime of more than 60 minutes, and the capacity to carry different types of warheads, can also be used in accordance with the single and swarm concept.
ALPAGUT will be able to detect and identify the target without being noticed with its dual-mode seeker head. At the same time, the position will not be affected by the jamming systems, and it will be able to point to the target with the precision guidance-control drive system. In addition to all these features, the system will also offer important advantages to its users with the throw-forget feature.
