As part of the fight against the global climate crisis, the Peynircioğlu Ecological Corridor Project, which was created on the coastal part of the Peynircioğlu Stream in Mavişehir with the Halk Park and the route after it, was among the top 2022 projects in the World Green City Awards 3 organized by the International Horticultural Producers Association (AIPH). took. In the 'Climate Change' category, which was created to build more livable and resilient cities and to combat the main causes of climate change, the other award-winning cities were Melbourne from Australia and Mexico City from Mexico.

“HORIZON 2020” project

Within the scope of the project, which is an application of the "Urban Green Up-Nature Based Solutions" project with a grant of 2020 million euros within the scope of the "HORIZON 2,3" program of the European Union, both flood control was provided in the stream and a new green area was created around the stream with nature-friendly practices without using an impermeable surface. . The project, prepared by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Studies and Projects, was deemed worthy of the TMMOB Chamber of City Planners Raci Bademli Good Practices Encouragement Award this year.
