Junction Arrangements Reduced Road and Rail System Accidents in Samsun

The arrangement made at 101 intersections within the scope of the Smart City Traffic Safety Project has also greatly reduced rail system accidents. On the rail system routes, where an average of 18 accidents occur annually, only 9 accidents occurred in the first 2 months of this year. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “Accidents have decreased both in road vehicles and in the rail system. Our citizens deserve the best and the best," he said.

Within the scope of the 'Smart City Traffic Safety Project', which Samsun Metropolitan Municipality will implement together with ASELSAN, geometric arrangement of 101 intersections was made. It has been made dynamic and adaptive at 76 junctions. Thanks to all these regulations, accident rates have also decreased. Especially the arrangements at the junctions on the rail system routes have greatly reduced the accidents.

In this sense, the 'Smart City Traffic Safety' project of the Metropolitan Municipality, which tries to create short, medium and long-term solutions in order to increase traffic safety, increase comfort and provide efficiency in Samsun, provided positive feedback. After the arrangement, the numbers decreased in the first 18 months of this year on the rail system route, where an average of 9 accidents were experienced per year. There were only 9 accidents in 2 months.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We want our citizens to go to their destination as soon as possible and reach their destination in the safest way. That's why we implemented the Smart City Traffic Safety Project. Together, we witness how much the system has changed in traffic. We see a high rate of relief in traffic. Accidents have decreased both in road vehicles and in the rail system. Our country deserves the best of everything. We are working nonstop so that they can travel safely and comfortably.”

REGULATION POSITIVELY REFLECTED TO THE RAIL SYSTEM

Gökhan Beler, General Manager of SAMULAŞ, said, “With the Smart City Traffic Safety Project, the geometry of the intersections has been rearranged. This was done to ensure discipline for road vehicles and pedestrians. These efforts had a positive impact on the rail system as well. While an average of 18 accidents occur annually, there were 2 accidents this year. The most important effect in this is smart transportation systems. We continued the training process of our mechanic and safety team by increasing. All these data have enabled the formation of a safer transportation system.
