Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç attended the opening ceremony of the Hamidiye Hejaz Railway Photography Exhibition organized by the Kayseri Branch of the Writers Union of Turkey.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition held at the Hunat Hatun Culture and Art Center was attended by President Büyükkılıç, the President of the Writers Union Kayseri Branch Mehmet Hüsrevoğlu, the writer Vedat Önal, the members of the Writers Union and the citizens.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç stated that the importance of the Hejaz Railway can never be ignored and said, “It is an important subject, an important area, as we will see in the exhibition, we all know that the importance of this railway can never be ignored. The service that Abdulhamid Khan, who is a place of paradise, has done for about 33 years, and the fact that he managed the recent turbulent period of the Ottoman Empire is an exceptionally important work," he said.
President Büyükkılıç, who gave messages of unity in his speech, said, “We are the Ottomans, we are the Republic, we are the Seljuks, we do not ignore our ancestors. In order to carry our present to the future, we must manage the process ahead in the best way and do our best. May my Mevla not disturb our unity, solidarity and peace. Our Akif says, 'An enemy cannot enter a nation without separating, and hearts cannot digest it as a group hits it'.
Expressing that one of the most important factors that will ensure unity and solidarity is the road, Büyükkılıç said, “The strategic importance of the railway was realized at that time. We are aware that we are a country on the Silk Road route. I hope we see the efforts of our President to carry out works that will continue this process until the Great Wall of China," he said.
Expressing that the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and the district municipalities should produce more projects hand in hand and heart to heart, Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “I would like to thank our brother Vedat Önal, who brought such an important and meaningful work to life. I congratulate each and every one of the esteemed members of our Writers' Union. I would like to express here that as Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities, we need to produce more projects hand in hand and heart to heart. We must try to do what we have to do," he said.
Mehmet Hüsrevoğlu, Chairman of the Writers' Union Kayseri Branch, gave information about the Hejaz Railway.
Writer Vedat Önal also stated that he served in Medina and Tabuk between 2016-2021 and said that he never expected that he would return with such a treasure. Önal also made a presentation about the frames reflected in his lens on the Hamidiye Hejaz Railway line.
After the speeches, the Hamidiye Hejaz Railway Photography Exhibition was opened with prayers. After the opening ribbon was cut, President Büyükkılıç visited the exhibition with the visitors and received information.
