New Audi R8 Coupe V10 GT RWD and Only 333 Units

333 cars worldwide with exclusive features; Driving pleasure provided by the 5,2 L V10 FSI engine combined with RWD Drive; A new driving mode that provides precise and controlled skidding… Audi Sport GmbH presents the new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD.

Twelve years after the premiere of the first Audi R8 GT, Audi Sport GmbH is launching the second version of this special supersport model: the new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD. With the power of the 5,2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine increasing to 620 PS, it has the most powerful rear-wheel drive car feature in the history of the brand.

The new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the new Torque Rear drive mode allow drivers to choose their own level of ESC support. The seven-stage rear torque can be adjusted via the control satellite on the steering wheel. Only 8 units of the new R333 GT will be sold worldwide. New and exclusive exterior and interior features also pay homage to the first generation of the R8 GT; for example, sequential numbering, special light-alloy wheels, and the interior with a combination of black and red.

New 620 PS engine

Audi Sport GmbH has increased the performance of the R8 V570 with 2 PS8, which forms the basis of the second edition of the R10 GT, to bring the performance of this special model up to par with the quattro model. The result is 10 PS power and 5,2 Nm torque obtained with a 620-cylinder 565-liter engine. This accelerates the New R8 GT to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, to 200 km/h in just 10.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of up to 320 km/h.

Another decisive difference is the new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with even faster shift times. Thanks to the changed gear ratio and the corresponding higher speed, the new gearbox provides even more impressive acceleration in all gears. Apart from that, there is a special design feature only for the R8 GT: the intake manifold is painted black.

New Torque Rear Drive Mode

Audi Sport GmbH, which produces the new R8 GT2 in Böllinger Höfe and most of it handmade, presents the Torque Rear mode for the first time in the new model.

In this drive mode, slip is controlled at the rear axle by the traction control system (ASR) as part of the ESC. There are seven characteristic curves in the ASR that offer different levels of support. Level 1 allows very little sliding, while level 7 allows more sliding. The desired rear torque level can be adjusted by turning the control satellite on the steering wheel. This function also provides a different adaptation as driving skills and road conditions improve. Depending on how development progresses, the engine control unit determines engine power at the rear axle, taking into account information from wheel speed sensors, steering angle, accelerator pedal position and selected gear.

Less Is More

Various improvements made to increase the performance of the RWD have resulted in a total weight of 20 kilograms (without driver), with a reduction of approximately 1570 kilograms. Special 2-inch, 20-spoke wheels with high-performance Michelin Sport Cup 10 tires designed for road and track use play a key role in reducing weight. Lightweight forged wheels are based on Audi's motorsport models. The extremely powerful ceramic brake system, standard equipment on the R8 GT 2, is another weight-saving feature. Also among these are R8 seats and a performance sports suspension with CFRP anti-roll bar. The front anti-roll bar is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. Two connecting rods made of red anodized aluminum (which protects against corrosion) not only contribute to weight reduction, but also increase handling and cornering dynamics. The sportier R8 GT coilover suspension is also available as an option.

Special model, special details

To differentiate the new Audi R8 V10 GT RWD from its peers, it is equipped with special attachments. The first distinguishing feature is the black "R8 GT" lettering on the rear. All other emblems on the model are black. Carbon Aerokit, consisting of a high-gloss front splitter, flics, side fender covers, cW elements on the edges of the rear bumper, diffuser and rear wing developed in the wind tunnel, increases optimum wing underflow and aerodynamic efficiency, providing better balance and therefore faster cornering.

Like its predecessor, the new R8 GT is available in matte Suzuka Grey. Alternatively, Tangorot Metallic and Daytona Gray Metallic are also available.

The interior is prepared with a combination of black and red. This includes the red belts that were only available on the R12 GT 8 years ago. The floor mats and R8 seats have black and red lettering of the special model. The sequential numbering of the R8 GT 2s is seen in the middle of the gear lever, in the carbon trim.
