Izmir Metropolitan Municipality held a festival in Konak Pazaryeri Neighborhood, which is included in the "Calm Neighborhood" program of Izmir, the pilot city of the world's first Cittaslow Metropolis. The event, which attracted great interest from the people living in the region, continued throughout the day.
The residents of Pazaryeri Neighborhood of Agora Ruins Region in the "Calm Neighborhood" program had an unforgettable day with the "Neighborhood Festival" organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The children had fun at the event, which aims to provide the citizens living in the region with a sense of meeting, acquaintance and togetherness.
Playgrounds were created for children at the festival. At the festival, where workshops, sports fields and inflatable playgrounds took place, approximately 600 children were served fish and bread by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department in order to support the goal of “access to good food”, one of the criteria of the Cittaslow Metropol İzmir Project. Social Services Department provided hot beverage service throughout the day. Snacks produced by PAGOS Cooperative for Izmir Metropolitan Municipality were also presented to the citizens visiting the stands.

What is Cittaslow Metropolis?
İzmir was declared the world's first Cittaslow Metropol pilot city at the Cittaslow 2021 General Assembly. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is working on the Cittaslow Metropol project with civil society representatives, academics, experts and opinion leaders to create a metropolitan management model that will start in Izmir and can be applied all over the world. The studies in İzmir were determined as the pilot “Calm Neighborhood”. Karşıyaka It is carried out in Demirköprü and Konak Pazaryeri districts. Within the scope of the project, urban and good life perspectives in the world were analyzed and brought together with the philosophy of "slow life". The Cittaslow Metropol city model aims at people-oriented, sustainable, high quality of life that protects the values of the city. The Cittaslow Metropolis model has 6 main themes: “Society”, “Urban resilience”, “Food for All”, “Good Governance”, “Mobility” and “Cittaslow Neighborhoods”. Various criteria were determined under these themes. Within the scope of these criteria, projects will be developed and implemented in İzmir within a year.
