Alstom, the world leader in smart and sustainable mobility, will hire 200 new welders for the Česká Lípa plant. These new hires are among 2022 talents to be recruited worldwide in 7.500 to respond to its growth. Alstom's North Bohemia site currently has 1.100 employees and plans to expand in the coming weeks. Alstom is currently seeking professional welders or craftsmen for welding training courses. The Czech Republic has long had a chronic shortage of welders and welding operators, so Alstom has set up its own welding training facility.
“Qualification training for future welders takes place at Alstom's training facility at the Česká Lípa production facility. Our modern training facility is equipped with the latest resource technologies, including artificial intelligence training solutions such as virtual reality. Alstom embraces diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all candidates,” explains Kamil Nosál, Site General Manager of Alstom Česká Lípa.
Beginners who complete the 4-week on-site course will be tested with a practical final exam. Graduates who successfully complete the course are awarded a welding license and a Basic Course Certificate. This is followed by hands-on training on specific Alstom projects lasting 2-3 weeks depending on the project and the chosen workplace.
Alstom is an important employer in Česká Lípa, as well as in the entire Liberec region. The production facility in Česká Lípa celebrated its 2018th anniversary in 100. It is the second largest facility of its kind in the Czech rail industry and one of the largest rail production facilities in the entire Central and Eastern European cluster. The site mainly focuses on the production of train structures. Welding components especially for commuter trains, regional trains and double-decker trains, light rail vehicles, trams and subways. The site includes welding shops, a certified testing laboratory, a welding school and a modern paint shop.
