Among the trees planted, there are also species such as linden, redbud, ash and oak. By the end of the year, 30 trees of 2.200 species will be planted to replace the dead and toppled trees.

Similar work will be carried out in Yıldız Woods, Gülhane Woods and Atatürk City Forest. In these groves, the permit procedures for the trees that dry up during the summer period have also been completed.

In the current month, when the leaves have not fallen yet; It was planned to start the afforestation works, to inform the public correctly about tree removal and planting processes.

Urban Ecological Systems Manager İbrahim Dedeoğlu made statements about the studies carried out.

Underlining that they took action regarding the trees that fell in heavy rain in the summer of 2022 and dried up in the summer, Dedeoğlu said, “We have started the planting of mature healthy trees in their place regarding the removal of the fallen and drying up trees. Until the end of October, we will remove dry and fallen trees in Emirgan Grove, Yıldız Grove, Gülhane Grove and Atatürk City Forest and plant healthy and mature trees in their place. These processes will be completed by the end of this month. Operations continue within the scope of officially approved management plans for other historical groves. After the permit procedures are completed, we will have completed the transformation of healthy trees to replace all these dead trees by the end of the year. The main tree elements of the groves are linden, stone pine, oak, ash, redbud and cypress trees. After the removed trees, we will plant trees from species that are naturally found in the groves. In addition to these basic species during the planting stages, we carry out our work in a way to protect and develop the ecosystem of the groves together with other species.”
