The first meeting of the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Council in October was held under the chairmanship of Atilla Ataman, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality.
Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Council started its October meetings. Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Atilla Ataman, greeted the members of the Assembly, the district mayors, the top managers of the Metropolitan Municipality and TİSKİ General Directorate and members of the press, and opened the Assembly meeting.
Informing the members of the Assembly about the Light Rail System Project, which has been on the agenda in Trabzon recently, Deputy Chairman Ataman said, “I would like to present very clear information about the Light Rail System Project to our Assembly. Our Transportation Master Plan, which we said was done before, was approved by the Ministry. Trabzon now has a Transportation Master Plan. We started the process for the Implementation Project. In the first stage, there will be a 15-kilometer line between the City Hospital and the Airport, and then an additional 31-kilometer line towards Akçaabat-Yomra, Arsin. In this regard, the application and the construction project go hand in hand. When our Minister came to Trabzon, they agreed with our President on this issue. It is a project that has become flesh and bone as a route and as a process. Trabzon will now have a rail system,” he said.
A PROJECT DURING THE GÜMRÜKÇÜOĞLU PERIOD?
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Turgay Şahin asked whether the Rail System Project to be made is a continuation of the project made during the previous term, Metropolitan Mayor Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu. Şahin said, “A briefing was given here in 2017 as well. At that time, Gümrükçüoğlu said: It started from Akyazı, it goes up to Gate C of KTÜ. That project was done. At that time, we even included the production of it in the performance program. An allowance of 250 million TL was set. Has that project been shelved? Will my project be done on a separate route again?” Said.
MINISTRY-APPROVED TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN IS NEWLY DONE
Thereupon, Deputy Chairman Ataman said, “I am saying this clearly and unequivocally. The Transportation Master Plan of the city of Trabzon was made and approved. An exercise and construction project is also carried out. The Ministry-approved Transportation Master Plan of the City of Trabzon has just been made.
Good services were provided both in the period of Orhan Bey and in the previous period. Then an implementation plan was made. They would later get approval for this project to be done. In order to carry out this project, the Metropolitan Municipality had the Master Plan prepared and approved by the ministry. No prior approved plans. But this does not mean that an implementation plan has not been made for the Rail System. The route of what was built at that time also changed within the framework of the Transportation Master Plan.” Said.
