First Green Themed 'Greeny Game Jam' Event Held in Ankara

Continuing its support to the IT sector and young informatics, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality signed the first environmental game competition of the Capital. “Greeny Game Jam”, organized by Ankara Inovatif Teknoloji AŞ, one of the subsidiaries of ABB, and the IT Department in cooperation with METU GATES, Gazi DOTT and METU Design Group, was held at North Star TechBridge.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which has signed many projects to make Ankara the capital of technology, continues to set an example for the whole of Turkey with the technology centers it opened, while continuing to support the IT sector and young IT professionals.

ANKARA'S FIRST GREEN THEMED GAME COMPETITION

Ankara Inovatif AŞ, one of the ABB subsidiaries, and the IT Department; METU GATES, together with Gazi DOTT and METU Design Community, hosted the first environmental game competition of the Capital. To the “Greeny Game Jam” event held free of charge on October 21-23 at North Star TechBridge; IT industry workers and university students showed great interest.

“WE WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT OUR YOUTH”

In the event that lasted for 3 days without interruption; The Metropolitan Municipality provided the contestants with breakfast and dinner. Tayfun Tanju Kara, Chairman of the Board of Ankara Innovative Technology AŞ, who gave information about the event, said:

“A playwriting competition. Green themed. Here, fellow software developers competed by writing their green-themed games. We hosted as Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. We are trying to provide all kinds of support to young entrepreneurs in order to realize the ideas of our President on informatics, Mansur Yavaş.”

At the end of the competition, the Head of Information Technologies Department Gökhan Özcan, who gave their awards to the 3 teams that ranked in the competition, said, “I bring you the greetings of our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mansur Yavaş, who loves young people and informatics. We want you to know that we will always support our youth. We congratulate all our teams,” he said.

Young people participating in the Greeny Game Jam event stated that it is very important to support informatics activities and expressed their thoughts with the following words:

-Serhat Taratorak: “I am participating in the competition from Gazi University. It was a very good competition. Everyone here was very friendly and warm. It's beautiful in the middle. Thanks for everything."

-Melih Tuna: “I'm studying at METU. First time participating in a gamejam. It was the best event held in Ankara. It is very nice to have attended my first event in such a place. Supporting such events is very important. There are those who consider playing games ridiculous, but it is very nice that we are supported by such activities. Thank you."

-Cem Buğra Yıldız: “It is good that such a center has been built. To support future events. I see it as a door of opportunity. The environment is very nice and comfortable. Thank you."

-Yaren Çetinkaya: “This is my second time here, it's a very nice environment. Being comfortable and intertwined with nature, it is a very suitable center for such events. The green theme amused us a lot. Thank you."

-Oğuz Hüseyin Kayalı: “I am participating in the competition from İzmir. I was very excited that the place was so green and that technology was intertwined with green. The competition is the first green-themed competition. It was a first for me too. Thanks for everything."
