While Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to ensure a safer traffic in the capital city, it also continues to implement the newly taken decisions to ensure traffic order.

Upon the decision taken by the General Directorate of Highways affiliated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the "intermittent green light application" in some junction areas in the capital was abolished, and the "intermittent red light application", which means "stop and go", was introduced.

GOAL: SAFE TRAFFIC FLOW

Observing the increase in accidents due to the intermittent green light application, the General Directorate of Highways decided to abolish the application, and the teams of the Signaling and Infrastructure Branch Directorate of the Science Affairs Department took action.

With the new regulation; There will now be intermittent red light application at the intersections of the capital. With this new application, it is aimed to reduce the number of accidents.

Among the reasons for the removal of the green flash application; It has been stated that there are typical driver movements such as an increase in the number of rear-end collisions, a decrease in the use of green time due to the tendency to miss, difficulty in predicting whether the vehicle in front will stop or not, and increasing speed when approaching intersections.
