The new education period has started at the Vocational and Technical Education Courses (BELTEK), organized in cooperation with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Gazi University. The trainees who are successful in the evaluation exam held at the end of the training given by Gazi University academics in 18 branches and 202 different fields are given an internationally valid certificate of achievement and a certificate of participation.

While Başkent residents of all ages and professions attend the courses given by Gazi University academics, the interest shown in the free trainings is increasing every year.
TRAINING GIVEN AT ACADEMIC LEVEL MAKES VOCATIONAL OWNERS
At BELTEK, one of the longest-lasting social responsibility projects in Turkey and carried out under the coordination of the ABB Department of Culture and Social Affairs, citizens have the opportunity to have a profession thanks to the training provided at the academic level.
The trainings given by Gazi University academics in 18 branches and in a total of 202 different fields are carried out both theoretically and practically. Courses in BELTEK program; It is carried out within the scope of lifelong learning activities at Gazi University Faculties of Technology, Education and Health Sciences and OSTİM Technical Sciences School.
In BELTEKs; Stating that the participants of the courses given by the academicians are enabled to have a profession by gaining professional competence and technical equipment, BELTEK Coordinator Prof. Dr. Musa Atar said:
“BELTEK has the feature of being a social contribution project that organizes courses in the field of vocational and technical education, which is carried out in cooperation with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Gazi University, and is needed in this regard. It is given free of charge to all trainees, especially those who missed the opportunity to have a profession in our country or who want to have a profession later, and who want to get this training in the university environment. We would like to thank our Metropolitan Mayor, Rector and teachers especially who contributed to this issue. We plan our courses according to the developing technology in a way that will meet current needs, and we implement them as soon as possible.”
BELTEK CERTIFICATES COMPLIED WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
At the end of the courses, evaluation exams are given to the trainees and a certificate of achievement is given to those who are successful in the exam, and a certificate of participation to the trainees who meet the attendance requirement.
Underlining that the certificates given at the end of the courses are now internationally valid, Atar said, “We give two types of certificates to the trainees. One is a certificate of participation and the other is a certificate of achievement. Since the documents were issued in Turkish and English, they are now valid all over the world. Documents with a verification code on them can now be received through the e-Government Gateway. Software work continues for this innovation," he said.
FREE EDUCATION IN BAŞKENTLİ UNIVERSITY CAMPUS FROM 7 TO 70
2 female and male students are currently studying in the courses that fill their quota within 400 days from the registration date and attract great interest. New demands for trainings in different branches, especially informatics, electrical-electronics, printing, construction, metal and machinery technologies, are also evaluated.
The trainees, who are educated in equipped modern classrooms and laboratories, stated that these courses are given at high prices in different places and noted that it is attractive for them because ABB organizes them free of charge. BELTEK trainees expressed their satisfaction with the following words:
Mehmet Akkaya: “I am a Mechanical Engineer. I graduated in 2018. My purpose of coming to the course is to learn SolidWorks, computer aided 3D solid modeling and design software. I thought it would make a difference to improve myself. A very nice project, satisfactorily meets our expectations. Here I understood the issues that I did not understand when I was studying at university. I believe I will start a good job after I get out of here.”
Tolga Ozturk: “I am retired and I have been attending courses for 4-5 years. There are trainings that anyone can take from 7 to 70. These courses are very popular as registrations fill up quickly. I realized that there is no age to learn and I attended 8-9 courses. I take any course that interests me and that I can. Despite my advanced age, I continue this course. I recommend to young people; Even if they are university graduates, they can come here and take a course on a subject they do not know or on subjects they know but do not consider adequate.”
Shayma Baghdad: “I am a graduate of Bilkent University and as a political scientist, I am taking a Python course here. I am quite satisfied. Our teacher gives very clear answers to all the questions we ask and I think the program is quite full. We are just at the beginning, the fact that it is 3 days a week and the course hours are longer makes it very productive. It is a very good thing, especially that it is free and that such an opportunity is offered. When you go anywhere else, we have to take the same classes at high fees. It helps me a lot, especially as a student.”
Edanur Regular: “I have attended these courses before, it is very useful. This is the 4th. We get the documents and we can use them in our resume. It is a huge factor in school and work life. After the trainings are shown theoretically, they are also shown in practice. Thanks to our teachers with a lot of knowledge and equipment, we are also trained. I would recommend it to everyone."
Ahmet Cangul: “I am a teacher of electronics in a vocational high school. I have attended different courses many times. It is a great opportunity and advantage for us. Due to the cooperation between our university and our municipality, paid trainings in different places are offered to us free of charge. Our teachers are diligent and knowledgeable. Thanks to everybody for their exertion."
Muharrem Gokhan Goner: “I am a graduate of AU Agricultural Machinery and Technologies Engineering. I have attended many courses before. CNC is also used a lot in industry. It was very attractive that BELTEKs were both free and accessible. In addition, our teachers are very good and experienced in their fields, and the education they provide is of very high quality.”
