The Victory and Remembrance March from Afyon to Izmir, organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality as part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of the city, continues. The convoy reached Uşak city center yesterday evening. Today he will go to Ulubey.
On the 100th anniversary of the Great Offensive, the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality convoy, which set off from Afyon Kocatepe, the symbol of the nation's independence, continues its march to Izmir.
The convoy, which was advancing west from the Evrendede campsite yesterday, was greeted with drums and zurnas in Banaz Kızılhisar. Celebrating the enthusiasm of liberation with the villagers just like 100 years ago, the convoy gave children story books and speeches. The marchers distributed Turkish flags and wheat germ seeds along the way.
They visited Çakmaklı Tepe and Gökem Victory Monument
On the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Uşak from the enemy occupation, the Victory Road convoy also visited Çakmaklı Tepe, where the Commander-in-Chief of the Greek Armies, General Trikupis, and his unit commanders surrendered to the Turkish army on September 2, 1922. The Turkish flag was unfurled on the Gogem Victory Monument, which was erected to commemorate that epic day that changed the course of the War of Independence. The National Anthem was sung. Reaching the city center of Uşak in the evening hours, the convoy will pass to Ulubey today.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerstarted the march from Afyon Derecine by lighting the torch of the historical march on 24 August. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), also participated in the 14-kilometer Çakırözü-Kocatepe stage of the march. The last stop of the 400-kilometer Victory and Remembrance March will be the liberation ceremonies of Izmir, which will be held on the morning of September 9 at Cumhuriyet Square.
