Thomas Feeser, Mayor of Bingen am Rhein, Germany, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerHe invited as a speaker to the World Sister Cities Tourism Association meeting to be held in Germany in February 2023. President Soyer told Feeser, who is planning to visit Izmir at the 91st IEF and Terra Madre Anadolu, about Izmir Agriculture and its goals.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerhosted Thomas Feeser, President of the World Sister Cities Tourism Association (TCWTA) and Mayor of Bingen am Rhein, Germany, in his office. TCWTA Vice President Jürgen Port, TCWTA Secretary General Hüseyin Baraner took part in the visit. Expressing that he is excited for the international gastronomy fair to be held within the scope of the 2st IEF on 11-91 September, the President Tunç Soyer“There is a main reason why we organize this fair. To ensure that every citizen has access to sufficient and healthy food. Gastronomy is not just taste. Health, history, tourism, energy, everything is intertwined. We have to build an agricultural policy that can inspire the whole world, but locally," he said.

The seed is both root and future.

President Soyer underlined that there is something they want to remind the whole world from 8-year-old Izmir and said, “The seed is both the root and the future. When we say ancestral seeds, we started an era. We spread the seeds everywhere. At Terra Madre, İzmir will both spread the work we have done on this subject to the world and convey these works to the world. If democracy is the greatest innovation of humanity, it is necessary to support democracy with economic and ecological democracy. Ecological democracy should be an action that includes the rights of all living things in nature, not just human beings. In summary, Terra Madre will be a platform that includes all of these. Our planet is now a sick planet. We cannot be healthy on this planet. That's why we need to think about how we can improve the planet we live on together.”

The concept of sustainability must now enter our lives as a necessity.

Stating that they will organize a big meeting in Germany that will bring together the members of the World Sister Cities Tourism Association from all over the world, Feeser said, “We know your local development efforts and we follow you closely. We would like to see you as a speaker at the meeting that we will organize in February and will focus on local development. We would like to benefit from your knowledge and experience about Terra Madre. I share the same ideas with you. I know the importance of the seed. It hasn't rained for three months in Germany, and prices will go up in our city, which is famous for its winemaking. We talk about sustainability all the time, but without ecological rights, the world cannot do it. We need to accelerate Terra Madre and spread this perception around the world. The concept of sustainability must now enter our lives as a necessity.”

Feeser said that he will visit the 91st İEF and Terra Madre Anadolu İzmir as part of the İzmir program.
