Alstom Signs Locomotive Maintenance Contract with Ferromex

Alstom, the world leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has signed a contract renewal to perform preventive and corrective maintenance of 186 locomotives belonging to the Ferrocarril Mexicano (Ferromex) fleet for a period of five years starting immediately.

Alstom's business relationship with Ferromex began in 2004 and provided a synergy in favor of rail mobility in Mexico. Implementing remote monitoring, this service contract consists of performing preventive and corrective maintenance on locomotives, applying condition-based maintenance technologies, and performing predictive maintenance through vibration analysis and oil chemical analysis.

Maite Ramos Gómez, Managing Director of Alstom Mexico, said, “The renewed confidence in Alstom with this additional maintenance contract reaffirms Alstom's commitment to assist Ferromex in optimizing its operations with increased fleet reliability and availability for a more efficient and sustainable transport network, " said.

Ferromex operates the largest rail network in Mexico, with 10.000 km of lines covering the country's main industrial and consumer areas, and connects it with the rest of the world through eight (8) ports and six (6) border crossings.

“Working hand in hand with partners like Ferromex reinforces our quality-based business philosophy, helping us support the power that moves Mexico in shipping and sustainability,” said Maite Ramos.

Maintenance work will be carried out at Ferromex centers in Torreón, Chihuahua and Guadalajara.
