China Express Cargo Industry Delivered 9.6 Billion Packages In August

According to the monthly index of the relevant industry, the Chinese cargo sector continued to grow in August. The State Post Office announced that the country's express delivery development index was 12,9 in August, up 311 percent compared to the previous month.

A sub-index, which is considered as a measure of development, advanced 4,7 compared to the same month of the previous year; therefore, it is estimated that approximately 9,6 billion packages were delivered to their recipients in the last month.

The State Post Office attributes the country's high growth rate in the cargo business in August to the acceleration of delivery services by the cargo centers that were adversely affected by COVID-19, the peak in the sales of agricultural products due to the season, and the development of e-commerce platforms.

Meanwhile, the development capacity sub-index increased by 6,2 percent compared to the previous year. This increase indicates that China's express delivery network infrastructure and delivery efficiency are improving.
