Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality will bring the "Gaziantep Card" feature, which is used in public transportation in Gazi city, to all cards of the banks with contactless features, credit cards, prepaid cards or debit cards, with the "Every Card Gaziantep Card" project, which will be the first in Turkey.
With the project, citizens of Gazi city will be able to benefit from public transportation by defining their bank and credit cards as student discount card, disabled, 65 years old card in a short time with the online transaction, and using them like Gaziantep Card. With the project, which will offer citizens a more useful opportunity than the existing payment systems, the boarding passes made with a credit card that will be used as Gaziantep Card in public transportation will be delayed until the card's statement payment date.
With the implementation of the project, the cost of purchasing transportation cards paid by the citizens will be eliminated and there will be no need to go to any place to apply. Card filling and visa transactions will be carried out through the banking system facilities. The system will also eliminate the obligation and waiting times for citizens to come to Gaziantep Card Processing Centers.
With the Gaziantep Card feature defined for debit cards, full cardholders will benefit from the opportunities offered such as free transfer, while free and discounted card users will be able to use their rights defined by their cards with their debit cards.
In the project, which will be carried out in 2 phases, within the scope of the first phase, which will be put into use by the Metropolitan Municipality in September, all existing Gaziantep card users will be able to use the public transportation fees without losing their rights by defining Gaziantep Card feature to their debit/credit cards.
In the second phase, which is planned to be put into use at the end of the year, all citizens, including the users who will buy new cards, will be able to use all the facilities of Gaziantep Card by defining their debit/credit cards as Gaziantep Card on the internet without buying another card.
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, in the message she published on her social media accounts, explained that they had achieved many firsts with the Gaziantep Card application.
Stating that the new project will be a first in Turkey, Şahin emphasized that Gaziantep Card is also used in museums, sports centers and zoos, apart from public transportation:
“Since 2017, all contactless debit and credit cards can be used at these points, as well as Gaziantep Card. Our citizens, who have many types of Gaziantep Card, such as students, teachers, disabled and 65 years old, and who have free and discounted passes, had to come to Gaziantep Card Processing Centers to get the cards defined by these rights. At the point we have reached, our citizens who have any contactless debit or credit card will no longer need to come to the Card Processing Center for whichever card they want, be it a student or a disabled person. With a very short online transaction to the bank or credit card he has, Gaziantep Card feature will be gained.”
