'European Mobility Week' Begins in Ankara

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Electricity Gas Bus General Directorate (EGO) has completed its preparations for the "European Mobility Week", which encourages cities and municipalities to take and support sustainable transportation measures.

With the support of the European Turkey Delegation, ABB EGO General Directorate will celebrate the "European Mobility Week" held between 16-22 September all over the world with the slogan "Continue by diversifying" with various activities.

EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş, Head of Service Improvement and Institutional Development Department Ayten Gök, Head of Transportation Technologies Department Bülent Özkan, Ankara City Council Bicycle Council Vice President Meltem Akkaş Görür and stakeholders attended the European Mobility Week Coordination meeting held at the Metropolitan Municipality Main Service Building.

All citizens are invited to the event

Underlining that as a result of all these activities, they aim to create a safer, more environmentally friendly, cleaner, healthier and more accessible transportation idea in Ankara, EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş said, “As you know, European Mobility Week has been taking cities and municipalities with sustainable transportation measures since 2002. It is the initiative of the European Commission, which encourages people to buy and support, and is celebrated around the world from 16-22 September.” made a statement.

Stating that 2022 cities from 36 countries will participate in 760, Alkaş said, “As ABB EGO General Directorate, we held a very comprehensive event in 2019 for the first time. Unfortunately, the year 2020 was dull within the scope of Covid-19 Measures, and we organized very good events in 2021 as well. We are raising the bar higher this year and we will do much better events this year.” he said.

Ankara tour will be held

Within the scope of the event; As part of the European Mobility Week activities, Ashgabat Street (Bahçelievler 7th Street) will be closed to traffic and the Great Ankara Cycling Tour will be held. Many awareness events such as concerts, yoga event, dance event and DJ performance will also be held on the street.

Theatre, concert and cycling events

On Saturday, September 17, “Youth and Young People Walk Together” at 30 August Park and “Driving for Children Festival” will be held in Adnan Ötüken Park in cooperation with Kidical Mass Ankara Group. On Sunday, September 8, “Sunday without Cars”, “Great Ankara Cycling Tour” and concerts will be held on Ashgabat Street.
