Cycle Miniature Exhibition Opened at Üsküdar Nevmekan Sahil

The 'Cycle Miniature Exhibition', curated by Gülşah Pestil and Meyçem Ezengin and featuring the works of 19 artists, was opened at Üsküdar Nevmekan Sahil Gallery. In the exhibition, 67 miniature works of the artists on various materials such as paper, concrete, plastic, metal, leather, bone, glass, iron and wood are exhibited. The opening of the exhibition was attended by Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen as well as many names from the world of culture and art. Art lovers will be able to visit the miniature exhibition until October 7.

Speaking at the opening, curator Gülşah Pestil said, “The idea for the cycle exhibition came about two years ago, at a time when people were confined to their homes during the pandemic and were producing waste. We aimed to include these worthless products in art and gain different meanings, and we started to work on this exhibition idea with 19 artists. Each artist took a waste material that they found close to themselves and tried to express it in their own artistic expression language. And in this way, the cycle exhibition consisting of 19 works by 67 artists emerged. Another feature of this exhibition is that each of these artists works in the field of miniature art. One of the missions of this exhibition is to reveal that miniature art is not only small-sized book works, but also a different form of expression of contemporary art. We wanted to show this by going beyond the traditional material in this way.”

Famous miniature artist Taner Alakuş, who mentored the artists in the exhibition, said, “The exhibition was prepared in a very long time, our friends put a lot of effort into it. It is very important to be able to act together with sparkling, original and free young people, and to be with our young people who transform their inner journeys into art without any influence on their minds, hearts and souls. This is exactly what our traditional arts are supposed to do. My mission here is to be the spark. To prevent wasting time by sharing my experiences with them. To give extraordinary meaning and value to ordinary things and thus turn them into art. I know that all of our friends in the exhibition have unlimited potential. Art also inspires the future. This exhibition perhaps gives you indications of where the art of miniature can reach in the future. We are trying to create a universal language in miniature art. So that he can give a message to every one who looks at him. Thus, the place of our art and artists can be international rather than national. “He said.

Aleyna Aslan, one of the art lovers who visited the exhibition, said, “Traditional art actually remained in the background and started to be popular again. This really makes me very happy. It is really proud that the traditional meets modern art and that it is again in front of people with an exhibition that attracts so much attention.” said.
