Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality continues to develop the city's sports culture and brand value with events organized or supported within the scope of the 'Sports city Kocaeli' vision. In this context, Kocaeli International Open Water Swimming Championship Golden Cup 10, which will be held on Saturday, September 2022, was launched in cooperation with Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and Turkish Swimming Federation.
WIDE PARTICIPATION TO THE LAUNCH
Head of Youth and Sports Services Department Şemsettin Yıldırım, Sports Branch Manager Alparslan Arslan, Turkish Swimming Federation Open Water Swimming Technical Committee Member Sabri Bozca, European Swimming Union Len Delegate Aleksandar Malenko, Hungarian National Team Athlete Olympic swimmer Ana Olasz, swimming provincial representative Talha Altuntaş attended.
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS WILL CONTINUE
Speaking first at the meeting, Yıldırım said, “We continue to act in the vision of 'Sports City Kocaeli' under the leadership of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and with the support of our President Tahir Büyükakın in every field of sports.” Yıldırım stated that they brought the Open Water Swimming Championships, which have become traditional every year within the Metropolitan, to the national level with the Turkish Swimming Federation Open Water Swimming Turkey Championship and the National Team Selection Competitions. Emphasizing that they aim to go further in every step taken in the field of sports, Yıldırım said, “As Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, we are determined and willing to continue our international organizations. With the Kocaeli Automobile Sports Club and Motor Sports Federation, we will organize the Kocaeli Rally Turkey Rally Championship, Youth Balkans Judo Championship and International Karate Championship.

Turkish Swimming Federation Open Water Swimming Technical Committee Member Sabri Bozca started his speech by thanking Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın for his support. Drawing attention to the importance of the championship, Bozca said, “Our athletes are very good swimmers around the world and Europe. Kocaeli is a city known in Open Water Swimming Championships. When Kocaeli is mentioned, water sports come to mind.”
IT WILL BE THE STAGE FOR GREAT EXCITEMENT
2022 successful athletes from 10 countries will participate in Kocaeli International Open Water Swimming Championship Golden Cup 60, which will be held at Kandıra-Kerpe Public Beach by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and Turkish Swimming Federation. 21 athletes from the Turkish National Team will compete in the competition, which will be the scene of great excitement and struggle. While the competitors stay in Kerpe and Kumcagiz Youth and Sports Camp, they will also enjoy the unique nature of the city. Various gifts (t-shirt, towel, poncho, bag) will be given to the athletes participating in the competition. Trophies, medals and flowers will be presented to the winners.
