The number of museums in Turkey increased by 5,1 percent and reached 210, 309 of which are under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and 519 of which are private. The number of ruins was 143.

According to the 2021 Cultural Heritage statistics announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of works in museums increased by 0,7 percent compared to the previous year and reached 3 million 719 thousand 409.

While the number of works in the museums affiliated to the Ministry increased by 0,7 percent compared to last year, 3 million 301 thousand 789, 87,4 percent of these works were inventoried.

60,2 percent of the works in the museums of the Ministry are coins, 27,3 percent are archaeological materials, 6,9 percent are ethnographic materials, and 3,6 percent are tablets.

The number of works in private museums increased by 0,2 percent to 417 thousand 620.

In 2021, the number of visitors to paid museums and ruins under the ministry is 9 million 672 thousand 796.

A revenue of 362 million 270 thousand 93 TL was obtained from the paid visits to museums and ruins affiliated to the Ministry. The number of museum cards sold by the Ministry was 1 million 799 thousand 388.
