YAVAŞ: “An EXPERIENCED AND DYNAMIC TEAM IS ESTABLISHED”

Mansur Yavas

Starting his speech by celebrating Fire Brigade Week, ABB President Mansur Yavaş said, “We follow you sometimes in Elazığ, sometimes in Kastamonu, and sometimes in Marmaris. We witness how you struggle through your life in a disaster. We know how you give hope to the hearts that were destroyed in an earthquake, how you are a light to the eyes that look desperately in flood disasters, and how you turn the lives that turned gray and black in a forest fire to green.

In his speech, Mansur Yavaş stated that they faced a huge personnel and equipment shortage when they took office and said, “704 of our 400 personnel were entitled to retirement and the average age was 48. We took action to solve this problem, and 445 of our colleagues, consisting only of fire department graduates, started to work with merit. The average age has dropped to 40, and an experienced and dynamic team has been established with a total of 1192 colleagues.”

“WE DIRECTED OUR PRIORITIES TO ESSENTIAL NEEDS, NOT TO INCREDIBLE JOBS”

Continuing his speech by saying, “Only one foam tower purchased in 1993 has served for about 1 years without an alternative,” Yavaş continued as follows:

“We, on the other hand, have directed our priorities not to imaginary works, but to essential needs. In 2022, our new foam tower vehicle was added to the Ankara Fire Department inventory. With the cooperation of Ankara Chamber of Industry 2nd Region, one more foam tower vehicle was allocated for industrial zones. Apart from this, 3 new ladder vehicles, 24 first response vehicles called 'rotfire' and 55 service vehicles were included in our fleet. We have distributed 417 first response tankers in order to provide rapid response in case of a fire in villages and rural neighborhoods. Within the scope of the project, we provided fire extinguishing training to 800 citizens. We will increase the number of our tankers even more because our priority in our understanding of municipality is human health and human life… We continue to bring new stations to our city. Our new stations in Nallıhan and Akyurt became operational. We have completed the construction of our stations in Bağlum, Haymana and Etimesgut, and we will put them into service in a short time.”
