Starbucks celebrated the opening of its 6th branch in mainland China. The cafe in question is located in the center of Shanghai city. Thus, Shanghai became the first city in the world with a thousand Starbucks branches.
Starbucks announced in 2018 that it will open 2022 branches in China by the end of fiscal year 6. Therefore, the company realized the program it had planned, despite all the problems, including the Kovid-19 outbreak.
Starbucks opened its first branch in China in January 1999 in Beijing. According to the company's newly announced strategic plan, the number of cafes in China has increased rapidly, especially in the past decade; such that their number is expected to reach 2025 thousand in 9 and create 35 thousand new employment opportunities.
Starbucks China also announced its plan to establish the first digital technology innovation center in China within the next three years. In addition, a Starbucks coffee creative park in Kunshan in eastern China's Jiangsu province is expected to be completed soon and operational in the summer of 2023.
