The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure pointed out that with the developing technology in the sea, more cargo was carried with fewer ships, and noted that there was a 16 percent increase in the amount of cargo transported through the strait in 40 years.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure made a written statement about the number of strait crossings. Despite the fact that the number of ship crossings in the Bosphorus seems to be decreasing, the size and tonnage of the ships have increased in order to reduce the transportation costs in the maritime sector.
