By the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, certificate plates with QR code and RFID chip were placed in 48 thousand 250 buildings whose building inspections were completed.

According to the statement made by the General Directorate of Construction Affairs, the Building Identification System (BKS) application, which is designed for giving the technological plate to the buildings and mounting the document on the building, started as of the second half of last year.

Within the scope of BKS, which aims to increase the quality of Turkey's building stock, to minimize the loss of life and property that may occur in possible disasters, and to provide “identity certificates” to buildings, QR code and RFID chip certificate plates have started to be attached to the buildings whose building inspections have been completed.

In this context, 48 certificate plates were placed in buildings that were audited this year across the country.

Accordingly, the province with the highest number of plaques was Istanbul with 4 buildings. İzmir was followed by İzmir with 897 buildings, Antalya with 3 thousand 586 buildings, Bursa with 3 thousand 454 buildings, Kocaeli with 2 thousand 798 buildings and Ankara with 2 buildings.

With BKS, which is designed to be integrated into all public software, both building owners and public officials will be able to access technical and general information about the buildings.

Especially in times of disasters such as earthquakes and fires, the information in the certificates placed in the building will be accessible at a distance of up to 50 meters via the "RFID reader". Thus, vital information such as "building floor plans", "general data of the building", "citizens residing in the building" will be accessed remotely.

With the amendment planned to be made in the Law on Building Inspection in the next period, it will be ensured that buildings that receive BKS are inspected by building inspection institutions in five-year periods.

Thus, after the completion of the building, the necessary measures can be taken by detecting violations of the legislation such as adding an additional floor, cutting a column, turning the basement into a floor, and using the shelter as a warehouse-shop.
