Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Department is implementing the 'Preparation of Mersin Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan Project' in order to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of Mersin and increase the adaptation capacity of the city to climate change.

An emission inventory will be created for Mersin

Within the scope of the project, which will last for 12 months; Information on greenhouse gas emissions and factors affecting climate change will be collected in Mersin. By using emission factors accepted in national and international norms, an emission inventory will be created for Mersin and a "Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory Report" will be prepared. Stakeholders who will contribute to the preparation of the Action Plan will be identified and evaluation meetings will be held.

Greenhouse gas emission reduction amount will be calculated

In addition to the current situation scenario, greenhouse gas emission reduction scenarios will be designed in line with the opinions and suggestions of relevant stakeholders, taking into account Mersin's current plans and policies, and greenhouse gas emission reduction amounts will be calculated on the basis of a maximum of 3 scenarios.

A general evaluation will be made within the scope of adaptation to climate change and adaptation measures will be determined in 3 priority sectors for Mersin. At the end of the studies, the 'Mersin Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan', which includes all the outputs, will be prepared.
