Cengiz Holding increased its cobalt production capacity by 100 percent to 800 tons at its facility in England, ICoNiChem.

Cengiz Holding, one of the largest industrial establishments in Turkey, increased the production capacity of cobalt, which is accepted as the "element of the century", from 900 tons to 1.800 tons with new investments in ICoNiChem, the facility in Widnes, England. It can bring up to 99,99 purity. ICoNiChem, which is one of the few facilities in the world that can produce special cobalt salts for technology-intensive sectors such as the electric automobile, aircraft industry and petrochemistry, thanks to the bridge established by one of the group companies Eti Bakır with Mazıdağı Metal Recovery and Integrated Fertilizer Plant, the cobalt produced in Mardin is also in the world. connects with the markets.

Emre Kayışoğlu, General Manager of ICoNiChem, stated that they are among the few companies in the world today in mining technologies and said, “Cobalt has gained great importance in the world, especially with the technology age we live in. When we look at it historically, cobalt, which was used mostly in the paint industry in the past, is today an indispensable part of the sectors where technology is most intense, especially batteries, batteries and catalysts. As a company that realizes 2% of world production, we reinforce our leading role in the world economy with new investments and continuously improving our technological infrastructure.”

Emre Kayışoğlu explained that thanks to the investment in the ICoNiChem facility, they are now able to obtain special materials that could only be produced from pure metal in the past, as well as from secondary products, and continued: “By replacing the steam boiler that has been used for nearly 30 years at the facility, we have made a very important improvement in the field of operational and safety. In addition, with the latest technology we have started to use in our laboratories, we can now measure the metallic purity of our final products in the best and most accurate way; We can bring cobalt up to 99,99% purity. All these technological developments give us a very important advantage in global competition. Thanks to these investments, we will expand to many different markets in the coming period, increasing the number of countries we export to and our market share. While we process the raw material we buy from different places in England, we turn the cobalt from our facility in Mardin into a value-added product and offer it to the world markets. This is a great source of pride not only for us but also for the Turkish industry.”
