We strengthened our unity, solidarity and hope by meeting under the roof of art. And this year, once again, we will meet under that roof with happiness and joy,” he said.

Continuing by thanking all the artists, sector representatives and cinema workers who will once again add value to the festival with their presence, Muhittin Böcek: “I would like to express my gratitude to the two legendary names of our cinema, Filiz Akın and Ediz Hun, who are on our poster this year and who are our poster faces; I wish many years of art to Perihan Savaş and Erkan Can, the owners of our honor awards, and to Zerrin Tekindor, who will receive our Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Cansel Tuncer, the administrative director of the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, said, “The festival does not forget its debt of loyalty to the masters of our cinema on its journey back to its essence. Our visual identity was created this year with a photograph taken on the set of the 1970 film "Ankara Express" by Filiz Akın and Ediz Hun, the master names of our cinema, who played leading roles in movies that broke the ratings record in Yeşilçam. Ankara Express is a film that won five awards, including Best Film, at the 1971 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. It is a great pleasure for us both to remember this important film and to include the unique photograph of Filiz Akın and Ediz Hun on our poster.”

Muhittin Böcekalso gave the good news that the festival, which returned to its essence in 2019, had to be interrupted due to the pandemic, the artists would meet with the public, and the traditional cortege of the festival would be rearranged.

The Festival's Honor Awards will be given to Perihan Savaş and Erkan Can, and the Success Award will be given to Zerrin Tekindor!

On the opening night of the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Perihan Savaş, who won the Golden Orange Best Actress Award with the movie "Bedrana" in 1974 and has made unforgettable performances in countless films on the big screen, with the films "On the Ship" in 1999 and "Taqva" in 2006. Erkan Can, who was awarded the Golden Orange Best Actor Award and starred in important films of our cinema, will be presented with an Honorary Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award, on the other hand, will be given to Zerrin Tekindor, the artist-actress who always appears in different roles on the stage, on the big screen and on television.

The 'Golden Orange Cinema School', which we started in the past years and attended by our students from all over the country, will continue this year as well. In addition, as part of the 'New Generation Cinema School' project organized by our Municipality with the contributions of the Dutch Embassy, ​​special screenings of five short films shot by our female students will be held.”

The aim of the "New Generation Cinema School" project, realized by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and funded by the Dutch Embassy, ​​is to support female students who want to pursue a career in the field of cinema. Cansel Tuncer, Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, said, “The applications received within the scope of the project to encourage female students studying at the relevant faculties of all universities in Turkey to make films on topics such as gender equality and women's rights; It was evaluated by the pre-selection committee, which included academicians from Bitlis, Mersin, Van and Akdeniz universities. The students of the five projects selected by the main jury had an efficient training and workshop process with a team of film professionals and were able to shoot their films. We are very happy to be showing these films within the scope of the festival on October 2, it is very important for us to give encouragement and visibility to female students who are interested in cinema.”

Ayşe Erbulak Özgürdal, Belçim Bilgin, Bennu Yıldırımlar, Gözde Kural, Pelin Batu, Sepin Sinanlıoğlu and Şebnem Burcuoğlu were the jury members of the “New Generation Cinema School” project, which set out with the slogan “With the Power of Cinema through the Eyes of Women”. The Golden Orange Cinema School, which has brought together 2019 students with cinema professionals and aimed to support the filmmakers of the future, since 650, when it was held for the first time with the slogan "Youth will produce, Antalya will rise with the youth", will be held online again between October 2-7.

The festival will continue to inspire students studying Radio, Television, Cinema, Media, Communication and Visual Arts at universities in Turkey this year and support them to take one more step towards their dreams. In the lessons that will take place every day, the leading names of the cinema industry, who have achieved success, will share their experiences with 250 students selected for the Altın Portakal Cinema School.
