The 196th Anniversary of the Police Organization is Celebrated in Izmir

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerattended the ceremony held in Cumhuriyet Square on the occasion of the 196th anniversary of the Police Organization. Mayor Soyer thanked the police personnel for their devoted work and said, “Be assured, knowing your presence gives me a sense of confidence. Goodbye," he said.

In İzmir, the 196th anniversary of the Police Organization is celebrated with various activities. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerattended the ceremony held in Cumhuriyet Square.

President Soyer laid wreaths at the Atatürk Monument with Burak, the son of police officers Ebru Boran Atılgan, Elara, the daughter of Ebru Evin, and Duru, the daughter of Hüseyin Kaygısız.

Stating that the police teams are working hard for the safety of the city by joining the day and night, Mayor Soyer said, “It's easy to say; It is a 196 year old institution. You have a great responsibility in all aspects of life, from the environment to health, from public order to the benefit. You are the indicator of how public life is organized. I am truly proud to be working with you. You are carrying out exemplary works for Turkey. Be sure, knowing your existence gives me a sense of security. Goodbye," he said.

“The municipal police is the external face of local governments”

Gökhan Daca, Head of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Police Department, also stated that they work 7 hours a day, 24 days a week, by strengthening the relations with stakeholder public institutions and organizations in order to protect the peace of the citizens. Daca said, “We have increased our response capability with three new municipal police offices established in Halkapınar, İnciraltı and Forbes Street, as well as mobile police stations on the main arteries of our city. We have facilitated access to police services. We started to provide services related to the protection of the consumer rights of our citizens with the tourism and consumer police chief. The municipal police is the guarantee of being a stakeholder of the city. It is the external face of local governments," he said.
