16th International Balkan Folk Dance and Culture Festival Begins

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is organizing the Balkan Folk Dance and Culture Festival for the sixteenth time this year. In the four-day festival, in which 12 countries will participate, messages of peace will be given from Izmir to the whole world.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which revived the "Balkans Folk Dance Festival", which was held for the first time in 1935 and 1936 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, will host a magnificent feast again this year. Launched after Atatürk's words "Peace at home, peace in the world" and aiming to reinforce the Balkan brotherhood, the festival will be held between September 23-26 this year. The festival hosted by Turkey; Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Greece will be guests. In addition to the performances of folk dance teams, there will also be concerts, exhibitions and talks at the festival.

Candan Erçetin will take the stage at the opening concert

The festival will start on Friday, September 23 at 17.30 with a ceremony in Cumhuriyet Square. After the opening, the participants will walk to Kültürpark with a cortege. Candan Erçetin will take the stage at the opening concert of the festival. The concert will be held at Kulturpark at 21.00:16.
