“In today's world where it is getting harder to reach healthy and safe food, both consumers and country policies are much more sensitive in questioning the safety of food. This has important consequences for the organic food and beverage industry. The size of the global organic food and beverage market was valued at $2021 billion in 188. The market is expected to reach $2030 billion by 564. Our association, which started organic agriculture with the export of raisins and dried figs, expanded its scale by increasing the number of products to 250. When we look at the number of organic producers in the world, Turkey ranks 1st in Europe and 8th in the world. We export organic products to more than 40 countries. In the Turkish pavilion at the Biofach Organic Products Fair; Our companies mainly offered dried fruits, cereals and pulses, frozen food, nuts and fruit juice products to the world.

The organic fruit and vegetable trend began in developed regions, including North America and Europe, and has spread to emerging economies such as India and China. North America and Europe are the largest consumers of organic foods. Non-GMO, environmentally friendly, zero chemical and residue-free organic products and the growth of vegan culture, progress in biological farming techniques, increasing demand for ready-made healthy food, establishment of international organic retail stores in India and China, undertaken by various governments around the world to raise awareness. The global organic market is preparing to grow exponentially in the coming period due to initiatives, incentives and directives. In particular, Asia Pacific is expected to grow very rapidly in the organic food and beverage market.” he said.

Nurettin Tarakçıoğlu, Vice Chairman of the Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association, said, “In addition to being the production center of the organic sector in Turkey, especially the Aegean Region, it also has an important share in exports. 75 percent of organic product exports are carried out by exporters who are members of Aegean Exporters' Associations. With the emphasis on value-added products, Turkey will soon be in a position to sign an organic product export of 1 billion dollars. BioFach Fair acts as a driving force to achieve this goal. As the Aegean Region, which brings 5 billion dollars of foreign currency to Turkey annually, sustainability in the agricultural sector is one of our top priorities.” said.

Mayor of Nuremberg, Markus König, mentioned that they aim to convert 40 percent of the agriculture in Nuremberg to organic production and they have achieved 30 percent, and that Nuremberg has a suitable geography for organic production.

German Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir announced that they will use 30 percent of the resources of the Ministry of Agriculture for research, innovation and investment expenditures to strengthen organic agriculture.

“The value of organic production and nutrition in war and pandemic crises has once again been understood by the world. Against the pressures of Russia after the pandemic and the food crisis in the world, Germany will support organic farmers more. Organic agriculture is our biggest defense for the development of all European Union countries. The transition to organic farming is a strategic decision for all EU countries.”
