5 Turkish engineers, who were trained in Russia by participating in the personnel training program initiated within the scope of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) project, were entitled to receive certificates in industrial reactor control.

Emre Yarar, Yunus Emre Saldıran, Mehmet Çağrı Çeyner, Mehmet Ali Çakır and Cihan Karakuş, who completed their education at the Russian National Nuclear Research University (MEPhI) and worked at Akkuyu NPP for several years, specialized in industrial reactor control with the additional training they received.

In order to gain this expertise, AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş employees first received a theoretical training at the Rosatom Technical Academy in Obninsk, Russia. After this training, the engineers who did their internship for the position of “Senior Operator of the Reactor Department” at the Leningrad NGS-2 continued their education in Russia for the position of “Chief Reactor Control Specialist”. The Turkish experts, who successfully completed the training consisting of three parts, the theoretical part, the applied part and the internship at Novovoronej NPP, the reference powerhouse of Akkuyu NPP, and passed the exams, returned to work at the Akkuyu NPP field.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva said the following about the new stage reached in the training of Turkish engineers: “The program to train Turkish experts and engineers for the Akkuyu NPP, which is under construction, has been going on for more than 10 years. Rosatom has trained more than 300 experts in the past years. We are proud that our employees, namely young Turkish engineers, are not satisfied with this and that their honor diplomas are not the ultimate dream for them. Turkey now has its own certified reactor section operators. AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. We are confident that there will only be more Turkish engineers at nuclear power plants every year. The continuity of information and technology is one of the foundations of the first nuclear power plant project in Turkey.”

AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. Emre Yarar, Chief Reactor Control Specialist: “I set myself a goal to obtain as much knowledge as possible from experienced scientists and apply it in my country. Now I can say; I have completed the applications in the operation of nuclear power plants by taking this information. I am now ready to bring maximum benefit to my country and the nuclear industry as a whole! I would like to thank my teachers who supported me on this path. Now we are all looking forward to the commissioning of our nuclear power plant.”

Information about the training of Turkish experts of Akkuyu NPP:

Training program AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. It was started by in 2011. The training costs of its specialists are covered by the Russian side.

Education was held at the Russian National University for Nuclear Research (MEPhI) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University.
