Mentioning that they are working in coordination with 39 district municipalities of Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “Thousands of our friends at the points under the jurisdiction of the IMM continue their sensitive work at this cleaning point for days. Another feature of Istanbul is that our district municipalities have areas of responsibility regarding rainwater areas, especially in the sewage system.” said. Warning that the precipitation will be effective during the day, İmamoğlu informed that precipitation is expected tomorrow. Ekrem İmamoğlu, gave information about the heavy rains that have been effective in the city since the evening hours, this time from the Istanbul Water and Control Automation Center (ISKOM) instead of the meeting room of the Disaster Coordination Center, which is under maintenance. Stating that the precipitation is expected to increase during the day, İmamoğlu informed that 60 kilograms of precipitation fell per square meter on the Bosphorus line. Noting that the rains will continue tomorrow, İmamoğlu warned the people of Istanbul to pay attention to the weather conditions. Stating that IMM teams are on duty at thousands of points, İmamoğlu said, “I can say that we are reaping the fruits of our intervention in some chronically problematic areas. We have minimized this situation at the squares and intersections where we experience very problematic landscapes even in a small rainfall. Of course, the problems of years of accumulation cannot be solved at once. We are still working on these points," he said.

“WE DO COORDINATED WORK WITH 39 DISTRICTS”

Emphasizing that porthole cleaning and canal cleaning are of great importance during the summer period, İmamoğlu said, “Thousands of our friends at the points under the authority of IMM continue to work sensitively at this cleaning point for days. Another feature is that our district municipalities have areas of responsibility regarding rainwater areas, especially in the sewage system of Istanbul. We are working in coordination with our 39 districts. We make mutual warnings to each other and we support each other in instant interventions.

WE ARE LIMITING THE PROBLEM AT HARAMİDERE AT THE END OF THE YEAR

Sharing the information that there were raids due to heavy rain falling in a short time in Esenyurt, where the IMM is carrying out rehabilitation work, İmamoğlu said, “A flood occurred in the area where there was a chronic problem, with a rainfall of about 20 minutes, and especially with the accumulation of rainfall in the basin in the background. But again, my friends were ready there. As you know, we have an ongoing construction site there. At the end of this year, we will completely remove the problem there. We will finish our work on the entire basin in June. As we have mentioned before, we can say that the reason for the chronic problems experienced today is the continuation of the water basin, the stream bed, after the construction of the water basin and the construction of hundreds of houses there, unfortunately, by changing the stream bed. However, we are effectively continuing our work that will completely eliminate the problem related to the creek bed and the basin here.”

PAINS WILL CONTINUE TODAY AND TOMORROW

Stating that all relevant units such as IMM Fire Department, IMM Road Maintenance Department and ISTAC work in the region, Mayor Imamoglu concluded his briefing as follows:

“The rains will continue. It will last all day today. There is some lightening in the evening, but we know that tomorrow it will rain again in Istanbul. Today, it is expected that the density will be effective especially on the Bosphorus line, around Sarıyer, some of it towards Alibeyköy and Şile, but with a density of the Bosphorus line. The issue of climate change is very important. This is the main source of the problem that we are experiencing today or that it gives us instantaneously. These rains falling on Istanbul or any part of our country or the world are actually at the root of these heavy rains and the problems it creates. We can say that the damage we have done to the world, from urbanization to the destruction of agricultural areas or the destruction of forests, is actually a return to us today. In this context, every institution, country, city and person must act with the responsibility of preparing the world for the future as a responsible individual for this process. It is our responsibility to warn our Istanbul. It is our responsibility to fulfill our duty. But it is his character to act a little more than cooperation and cooperation in such environments. I would like to thank all our citizens again for their ability.”
