Organized by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Kocaeli Cycling Clubs, the “Conquest of Anatolia 1071 Ahlat Manzikert Victory cycling tour” started with the participation of 16 athletes. Between 12 – 24 August 2022, 16 athletes from Kocaeli Cycling Clubs will pedal to Manzikert, where the gates of Anatolia are opened to Turks.
CONQUEST OF ANATOLIA 1071 AHLAT MALAZGIRT VICTORY CYCLING TOUR
Under the leadership of the Great Seljuk State Ruler Alp Arslan, the 26st Anniversary of the Manzikert Victory, which defeated the Byzantine Empire on 1071 August 951 and opened the gates of Anatolia to the Turks, will be celebrated. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality supports the Malazgirt Victory Celebrations. In this context, the “Conquest of Anatolia 1071 Ahlat Manzikert Victory cycling tour” was organized with Kocaeli Cycling Clubs.
THE FLAG DELIVERED
1071 athletes participated in the “Conquest of Anatolia 16 Ahlat Manzikert Victory cycling tour” that started in front of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. The Turkish Flag was handed over to the cyclists gathered in front of the municipality by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çakmak. After the flag delivery ceremony, the bike tour started.
1600 KM CYCLING TOUR
“Conquest of Anatolia 1071 Ahlat Manzikert Victory cycling tour” will last 10 days. Cyclists from Kocaeli, who will ride an average of 160 km every day, will pedal for a total of 600 km. Along the route, you will stay in the provinces of Sakarya, Bilecik, Ankara, Aksaray, Nevşehir, Kayseri, Sivas, Malatya, Elazig, Bingol and arrive in Bitlis. The Cycling Tour will end by participating in the 23 Ahlat Manzikert Victory events to be held in Bitlis / Ahlat between 26 - 2022 August 1071.
