Samsun Metropolitan Municipality continues its preparations for TEKNOFEST Black Sea 2022, which will contribute to the national and international promotion of the city, at full speed. The metropolitan city, which has made many infrastructure investments, especially science, technology, electric bus and smart city projects, has completed 95 percent of the works at Çarşamba Airport, where the festival will be held. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “TEKNOFEST is a great promotion opportunity at the point of reviving the tourism of our city. Samsun, the center of the Black Sea, will host the 30th of TEKNOFEST, the world's largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, between 4 August – 2022 September 5. In the city, where the excitement increases as the festival date approaches, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality continues its preparations intensively for a perfect organization. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has completed most of the constructions in Samsun Discovery Campus and Bilim Samsun, which is located in the City Park, which is planned to be opened on the first day of the festival, has come to an end in the ground arrangements in the 150 thousand square meter area next to Çarşamba Airport, where the festival will be held. Highways and DSI Regional Directorate teams also supported the work.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Department, which has 12.5 alternative roads with a total length of 3 km within the scope of TEKNOFEST works, continues the repair and surface coatings on the routes. The municipality, which increased the width of the existing airport inner road, which is 2 km long, from 3,5 meters to 8 meters, excavated 12 thousand cubic meters in the area. 250 thousand tons of filling material, 65 thousand tons of base material, 13 thousand tons of asphalt and 50 concrete augers were used. 15 cubic meters of concrete was poured after 500 km of surface coating work was carried out. Parking areas are being prepared and landscaping continues.

INTERSECTIONS ARE ORGANIZED, ELECTRIC BUSES ARRIVED

Within the scope of the Smart City Traffic Safety Project, the Metropolitan Municipality, which has completed the double lane asphalting work on Atatürk Boulevard, has come to an end in the intersection arrangements. In total, the geometric structure of 101 of 100 intersections was changed and made active. Test drives of the electric buses, which will be put into service before the festival, continue.
