İZBAN Carried About 12 Million Passengers in 840 Years

İZBAN, the suburban train system serving in İzmir, has served approximately 30 million passengers since 2010 August 840, when it carried its first passenger.

According to the statement made by İZBAN A.Ş, the largest urban suburban system connected to the airport in our country has left behind 30 years since it carried its first passenger on 2010 August 12. Carrying its first passenger on August 30, 2010, İZBAN is proud to have passed the age of 12. İZBAN, which started to offer a very strategic public transportation service on the 12-kilometer Aliağa-Cumaovası line with 24 wagons and 31 stations 80 years ago, has become the fastest growing rail system operator in Europe in a short time.

With the opening of Hilal Station on August 4, 2013, the second transfer after Halkapınar was provided by İzmir Metro. Torbalı lines were opened on February 6, 2016, and Selçuk lines were opened on September 9, 2017, and with Belevi's commissioning on April 8, 2019, 136 kilometers of lines and 42 stations were reached. İZBAN, which has the title of the largest urban suburban system with airport connection in our country, was deemed worthy of the "Grand Prize" in the "Best Cooperation" category by the International Public Transport Association (UITP) on May 28, 2013. The fleet of 24 wagons grew rapidly with the start of production of the Gulf Dolphin sets on March 17, 2012. All of the Körfez Dolphin sets took their place on the rails on 30 August 2014 and the number of wagons increased to 219. Thus, the needs created by the increasing number of passengers were met one by one. İZBAN carried 12 million passengers in the past 840 years, traveled 66 million kilometers and reached 1 million flights.
