The inspection teams of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change immediately took action after the black color formation in the Kınıklı Stream in the Marmaraereğlisi district of Tekirdağ. In the statement made by the Ministry, “As a result of the examination of the inspection teams, it has been determined that the wastewater belongs to the Sultanköy Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is affiliated to the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality General Directorate of TESKİ. If it is determined that the sample taken in the analysis results is against the standards, an administrative fine will be applied. it was said.
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change immediately mobilized the inspection teams after the black color formation in the Kınıklı Stream in the Marmaraereğlisi district of Tekirdağ and examined the facilities with wastewater discharge into the stream.
Ministry teams, a textile company in Tekirdağ, and the Sultanköy Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant belonging to Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality TESKİ General Directorate and Değirmenköy Biological Wastewater Plant belonging to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality İSKİ General Directorate, which has wastewater discharge to Kınıklı Stream. He made inspections at the Treatment Plant and industrial facilities in the region.
As a result of the examinations of the ministry teams, it was reported that the wastewater discharged from the Sultanköy Biological Waste Water Treatment Plant belonging to the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality TESKİ General Directorate, located in the Sultanköy District of the Marmaraereğlisi district, to the Kınıklı Stream, was black in color. Thereupon, a waste water sample was taken from the treatment plant outlet in order to make the necessary analyzes.
If the sample taken as a result of the analyzes is against the standards, the Ministry will impose an administrative fine for discharging wastewater against the standards specified in the Environmental Legislation to the Sultanköy Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant affiliated to the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality General Directorate of TESKİ, whose responsibility has been determined.
In the meantime, an administrative fine of 02.06.2022 thousand 131 TL was imposed on the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality General Directorate of TESKİ on 516 for discharging wastewater against the standards specified in the Environmental Legislation.
