Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin heralded that they will soon serve the citizens with hybrid buses in urban public transportation and sightseeing tours so that Gaziantep can have a healthier, environmentally friendly and safe transportation.
Within the scope of the “Transformation to Electric Buses Project”, President Fatma Şahin, together with her technical team, continued her contacts in Ankara to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the city and to provide vehicles suitable for climate conditions.
In this context, President Şahin stated that electric buses are the first stage of the transition to hydrogen transportation vehicles and said, “We are examining a very special bus. This bus is climate friendly, environmentally friendly and significantly increases fuel economy. This bus is a specially studied vehicle for Gaziantep. In addition, we will increase our passenger carrying capacity in articulated buses.” used the phrase.
Noting that hybrid buses will also provide convenience for people with disabilities, Şahin said, “This bus will eliminate the problems experienced by our disabled citizens in getting on and off buses. Citizen satisfaction is very important to us.” said.
Stating that they aim to rejuvenate the vehicle fleet and make it suitable for a "smart city", Şahin said, "We are conducting a serious research. With the buses we will add to our fleet, we will both ensure citizen satisfaction and prepare the infrastructure of smart transportation. Because we are a green city, we are a smart city. Therefore, smart and green transportation are our most important topics. Good luck to all our compatriots with this new fleet of vehicles.” he said.
