The technology of the future in transportation; Considered as the 5th generation after land, air, sea and rail transportation systems, Hyperloop was the subject of a competition for the first time in Turkey. TEKNOFEST, the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival, organized a Hyperloop competition among university students. Hyperloop technology, brought to the agenda by Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX and Tesla Motor companies, is based on the fact that wheelless vehicles travel at levels close to the speed of sound.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank attended the final and award ceremony of the competition organized under the coordination of TUBITAK Rail Transport Technologies Institute (RUTE). Stating that they will carry Turkey to the position it deserves in Hyperloop technology and in the field of new generation transportation, Minister Varank said, “Turkey will be one of the most advanced countries in hyperloop. Turkish youth can achieve anything if you give them the opportunity.” said.

TURKEY'S FIRST HYPERLOOP COMPETITION

Within the scope of TEKNOFEST, the Hyperloop Development Competition was held for the first time this year. Industry and Technology Minister Varank also attended the final day and award ceremony of the competition held at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus. Minister Varank, who examined the stands of 4 teams that struggled with their vehicles for 16 days, asked questions about the vehicles. Varank followed the final stage of the competition and signed the vehicles upon their request.

208 METERS VACUUM TUNNEL

Answering the questions of journalists, Varank said that hyperloop, also called 5th generation transportation, is a new field that explores the technology of traveling at supersonic speeds on land. Noting that they have established a very serious infrastructure for hyperloop races, Varank stated that they race the vehicles developed by the students with 208-meter-long vacuum tunnels.

WE CREATED SYNERGY

Pointing out that similar events are held in Europe and the USA, Varank said, “This infrastructure we have established is one of the best infrastructures in Europe, even close to its counterparts in Europe and America. It is really a pleasure and pride for us to organize such a competition and enable our young friends to work and research in the technologies of the future. We have created a nice synergy here.” said.

A PERMANENT INFRASTRUCTURE

Underlining that many companies from the private sector, as well as TÜBİTAK RUTE, TCDD, BOTAŞ and the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Institute, support the races, Varank said, “This infrastructure in the Gebze Campus will be permanent. Our professors, students and companies who want to do research in the field of hyperloop in Turkey will be able to use this infrastructure. We will create workshops for young people. We will carry our country to the position it deserves in Hyperloop technology and in the field of new generation transportation.” he said.

YOUTH AGAINST DIVISION BY “X”, “Y”

Minister Varank addressed the young contestants before the award ceremony. Noting that he witnessed the young people crying with joy because their vehicle was moving in the tunnel, Varank said, “Why does a young person cry because his vehicle moved in the tunnel? These young people are dividing as Z generation, X generation and Y generation. These young people are against such division. These young people ask, 'How can we contribute to this country, how can we benefit humanity?' they are working. When they get the results of their efforts, they cry with happiness. None of us expected such a performance. We see that Turkish youth can achieve anything if you give them the opportunity.” said.

HYPERLOOP CALL TO THE WORLD

Varank, about Turkey's UAVs in the foreign press, "It changed the concept of war." Reminding that there was news, he said, “The average age of the engineers and technicians who developed that vehicle and our friends working there is below 30. We trust and believe in the youth of TEKNOFEST. TEKNOFEST generation will write Turkey's future and Turkey's success story in the best way possible. From here, I make a call to Turkey and the world; If you want to work on hyperloop development, then come to Turkey, come to Gebze, come to TUBITAK. I hope Turkey will be one of the most advanced countries in hyperloop.” he said.

INCREASED THE PARTICIPATION AWARD TO 20 THOUSAND

Later, Varank, President of TUBITAK Prof. Dr. Together with Hasan Mandal and TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük, the teams participating in the competition received their awards in the categories of "best team spirit", "special jury", "special", "best scenario", "visual design", "technology demonstration" and "technical design". gave. Minister Varank increased the participation award from 10 thousand liras to 20 thousand liras for each team.

THE FIRST THREE AWARDS WILL BE RECEIVED IN SAMSUN

The competition is organized for the first time this year with the support of TEKNOFEST, Turkey Technology Team, TÜBİTAK RUTE, TCDD, ERCİYAS, Yapı Merkezi, BOTAŞ, TENMAK, TÜRASAŞ and Numesys.
