Izmir Metropolitan Municipality brought together animal lovers at Pako Stray Animals Social Life Campus. With the motto of “Help the paws”, about 100 volunteers washed, combed, clipped and walked the guests in Pako.

In the event organized with the slogan of “Help the paws”, approximately 100 animal lovers washed, combed, cut their nails and walked them.

“We do our best for their happiness”

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Veterinary Affairs Branch Manager Umut Polat said that they have not only installed a shelter mission on Pako Stray Animals Social Life Campus, but also an awareness center for street animals. Explaining that trainings were also organized to raise awareness of the society on this issue, Umut Polat said, “We are doing one of these trainings today. In the hot season, we organized a bath festival to cool the street creatures we host here. Today's event is also an activity that will increase their ownership. Thanks to our volunteers participating in the event, I think we will contribute to the awareness of the citizens.”

“Be sensitive to the souls on the street”

Alican Tiryaki, who attended the event, stated that they wanted to do something for stray animals and said, “I feel very good to be here. Glad we were able to help them. We expect everyone to be more sensitive to the souls on the street. It would be great if we put a bowl of food and water for street animals, especially in hot weather.” Stating that she loves animals very much, Dila Yavaş said that they are here to take care of them.

“They mean life to me”

Tenzile Ünlü, on the other hand, stated that they do not only need food or shelter, they also need love, and said, “We want to meet all of these needs. The cooperation of the municipality with the volunteers is very motivating. We want this to continue,” he said.

Neslihan Alagöz also mentioned that the living conditions of her dear friends in Pako are quite good and said, “We are here to meet their needs as much as we can. We are currently washing and scanning. We cut your nails. And we do it for fun. Animals mean life to me. I have a cat and dog. When they sleep with me, when I feel their heartbeat, I see that they are not different from us, in fact, they are superior to people.

“Our dear friends are not alone”

Ezgi İnan, who stated that she attended the event to make the animals in Pako feel better, said: “We came to let them know that they are not alone, that we love them, and that they can taste that love. It's good to be together with so many volunteers. This event is important in terms of both strengthening the volunteering relationship between us and benefiting the animals.”
