Karacabey Mayor Ali Özkan met with Infrastructure Investments General Manager Yalçın Eyigün. During the meeting, consultations were held on the route of the high-speed train line, which is planned to be built and will also pass through Karacabey.
It will add significant value to Karacabey
Mayor Ali Özkan emphasized that the project will add significant value to the agriculture and tourism potential of Karacabey and said, “The 24 billion lira high-speed train project will be 201 kilometers long. It will also be an important transportation area for agricultural products produced in our district. Again, we expect it to contribute to the tourism of our district. A change in the route of the high-speed train line was envisaged for this important project. We have conveyed the opinions of Karacabey Municipality regarding this matter. We presented our suggestions for the interests of our municipality and our district. And in general, we had various consultations on the point of using the line more efficiently.”
Uninterrupted travel comfort
On the other hand, when the Osmaneli-Bursa-Bandırma-Balıkesir high-speed train line project is completed, the rail travel between Ankara-Bursa and Bursa-Istanbul is planned to be approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes without interruption. The project is expected to be completed in 2,5 years and it will be able to carry 30 million passengers and 59 million tons of cargo annually. The project, which integrated Bursa, Bilecik and Balıkesir into the high-speed rail network, was started on 22 November 2021.
