Winners of AKM Sculpture Contest Announced

The winners of the Sculpture Contest, organized by the Atatürk Cultural Center to enrich the unique architecture with permanent works of art, have been announced. Under the chairmanship of Hüsamettin Koçan; As a result of the evaluations of the jury, which consists of veteran names in their fields such as Celaleddin Çelik, Günseli Kato, Murat Tabanlıoğlu, Osman Dinç, Seçkin Pirim and Şakir Gökçebağ, the names and works deemed worthy of the award were determined.

The work designed by interior architect and designer Semih Eskicioğlu was deemed worthy of the first prize in terms of meeting the criteria such as harmony with the environment, innovative approach, and definite dialogue with the architecture specified in the competition specifications, and that the dialogue he established with AKM was both opposite and positive and productive. Eskicioğlu was also the owner of the 150.000 TL award. The work titled “In Search of Time”, designed jointly by Sinan Günay, Nurhayat Öz and Ayceren Karabıyık, was chosen second in terms of the proposed material being environmentally friendly, sustainable and inspiring energy, and the owners were rewarded with 100.000 TL. The work named “Overture” by Ramazan Avcı and Özlem Satı Kurtcu was deemed worthy of third place in terms of incorporating the sound element and the air circulation in the design, adapting to the vertical rhythm of the building and the rise of the tree, and the relationship between the work and the human being, and was rewarded with 50.000 TL. Yaşar Tahmaz, Cihan Sevindik & Sıddık Güvendi, Kenan Pençe & Deniz Çalışır Pençe were honored with the honorable mention for the works they designed, and the artists were rewarded with 20.000 TL.
