Historical Cities Union Gathered in Balıkesir

The Historical Cities Union Regional Meeting was hosted by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality. Within the scope of 3 ongoing programs in which Balıkesir is the subject; In addition to the presentations of the realized projects, technical visits were organized to the project areas. Visitors appreciated the holistic, inclusive and protective work carried out in Balıkesir.

The “Regional Meeting” of the Historical Cities Union, which provides cooperation and exchange of experience between member municipalities in order to preserve historical urban fabrics and urban-cultural heritage, was held between 29-31 July, hosted by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality. Balıkesir, the subject of the 3-day program; Technical trips were organized by discussing the studies on the preservation of historical sites and transferring them to future generations. After the program that started with the gala dinner, it was realized in the city center; Balıkesir Çamlık Recreation Area, Kazım Özalp Street Rehabilitation Project Area and Zağnos Paşa Mosque and its square were visited. The visitors, who liked the history corridor created by the Metropolitan Municipality with the holistic works carried out in the city center, appreciated the works.

Balikesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz thanked the members of the Historical Cities Union who came to Balıkesir, the meeting point of history, nature and culture, at the meeting held at the Courtyard Congress and Culture Center, “Historical Cities convey very good information to each other when they act together.
