A ceremony was held for the builders at the Akkuyu NPP site. Representatives of all companies involved in the Akkuyu NPP project attended the ceremony held within the scope of the "Builders' Day", which is celebrated on the second Sunday of every August in Russia and has become a tradition in the Akkuyu NPP field.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva, in her speech to the representatives of the Turkish companies involved in the project, thanked all the builders for their work and professionalism and said: “It is especially Turkish companies that do an incomparably large amount of work in this field. We are doing our best with you to ensure that the construction continues uninterrupted and we are getting closer every day to the commissioning of the first unit, the development that everyone has been waiting for a long time. The number of Turkish citizens and companies taking part in the project will increase! We are not just building a nuclear power plant; In order to further strengthen Russian-Turkish cooperation in science, technology, education and other fields, we also lay the foundation for the development of many related industries in Turkey. We are actually building the future for several generations of engineers and energy engineers, for all citizens of the region and the Republic of Turkey!”

After the speech, AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva gave letters of appreciation and various gifts to commemorate the day to more than 20 Turkish contractor company representatives working at the Akkuyu NPP construction site for their meticulous work and dedication to Turkey's first nuclear power plant project and the ideals of the construction profession.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. Sergey Butckikh, First Deputy General Manager and NGS Construction Affairs Director, said the following in his speech at the ceremony: “Construction is a noble, demanding and always demanding profession. Today, we are building a city that contains many elements, from communication channels to engineering networks, from roads to office buildings, tunnels and power grid infrastructures. During the construction of this city, the best, time-tested and most reliable engineering solutions are used. The history of nuclear energy, which is a new sector for the Republic of Turkey today, is being created by your hands. Thank you for your efforts, happy holiday!”

At the end of the ceremony, a tour was organized around the nuclear power plant site for office workers. Employees, accompanied by experienced engineers, visited the Eastern Cargo Terminal and the site where the pumping stations were built. The employees, who examined the nuclear power units under construction, had the opportunity to watch the field from a bird's eye view from the hill, which is the highest point of the construction site and 200 meters above sea level. Participants shared their impressions of the trip with the following words:

Licensing Support Specialist Elif Uğur: “I was very impressed with the trip! I started working two months ago and I am very proud to be working on such a big project. It was very interesting to see the construction site in detail. The work of each worker in the field is of great importance. This is a very difficult profession, especially considering the climate of Mersin. I was also impressed by the complexity of the facilities being built! I am proud that what many countries only dream of is realized in Turkey. Nuclear power plants surprise with their technological solutions.”

Heat Automation and Measurement Department Radioisotope Devices Repair Unit Specialist Hüseyin Arif Ergül: “Today I saw places I had never seen before. We examined the pumping station and power units in the port and watched the entire site from 200 meters above sea level. What impressed me the most was the pit of the pumping station. The project was jointly developed by Turkish and Russian engineers. Construction work continues very actively and there are a lot of workers on site.”

Hüseyin Talo, Operator of the Radioactive Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel Management Division: “The collaborative effort to build such a large nuclear power plant is truly impressive. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail here! Managing the construction of such a project is very difficult. I wish the power plant to be built on time for all of us. And we, the nuclear engineers, will be ready to take over this task from the builders to ensure that the nuclear power plant is operational and working reliably!”

Mahmut Enes Bozdoğan, Evaporation Operator of the Chemistry Department: “I can say without exaggeration that the construction is fascinating! My colleagues and I saw the field from different angles. We learned about the purpose of various buildings and structures. Most importantly, I was impressed with the intensity. Work continues at full speed, literally all over the field. And also the scale and size of the power units under construction are very impressive. You feel very small next to such magnificent structures.”
