Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu visited the exhibition "Through the Lens of Iron Wings", which consists of photographs taken by the employees of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) and opened at Ankara YHT Station due to the "World Photographers Day".

Stating that Ankara YHT Station is a very important work that combines the old historical station with the new modern architecture, Karaismailoğlu noted that the railways have a very valuable place in the history of the country in terms of economic, cultural and historical, as well as transportation. “Our goal is to develop high-speed train culture. Karaismailoğlu said, “We have made our plans, too, to make all our citizens experience the comfort, safety and enjoyment of the high-speed train.” We are working to establish a 1400 thousand kilometer railway network in Turkey, by extending the 52 kilometer high-speed train lines that we operate by 28 cities in the coming years. Currently, the construction work continues on the 4 kilometer high-speed train network," he said.

WE AIM TO INCREASE PASSENGER TRANSPORT TO 270 MILLION

Noting that 19,5 million passengers are transported annually on the railways, Karaismailoğlu said that they aim to increase this to 270 million and freight transportation to 440 million tons with the investments they have made. Pointing out that the said investments will return to the country in terms of employment, production and tourism, he stated that they will achieve many successes thanks to their devoted teams that protect the railways.

ACCIDENTS ARE NOT DUE TO ROAD DEFECT

Referring to the traffic accidents in Gaziantep and Mardin, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu expressed that these events deeply upset them. Pointing out that they are working with great devotion to avoid such accidents, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the biggest reason for building a 28-kilometer divided road network is to build safe roads. Karaismailoğlu stated that they were extremely successful in this regard and continued as follows:

“These accidents are not caused by road defect. Investigations, research and investigations continue. Causes will emerge. At the moment it seems that the accidents are caused by driver and vehicle error. We wish that these tragic accidents do not happen again. We are working on 'what can we add on safe and comfortable roads'. We have alternative road works due to the accident in Mardin-Derik. We had a long-term ring road work in this region, we will accelerate it. The demand of our citizens is above our heads. I will be going to the area in the next few days. Our Minister of Interior was also in the region. We consulted with them constantly. All our efforts and investments to eliminate such problems. Thanks to these investments, we have reduced traffic accidents by 80 percent, but I hope that such accidents caused by individual mistakes will no longer occur. We are working to increase our divided road network to 38 thousand kilometers. We continue to work to make life easier for citizens and to travel safely. I wish God's mercy on those who died in accidents, and a speedy recovery to the injured."
