No Passage to Ships Polluting the Gulf of Izmit!

Teams of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department continue their inspections in the Gulf of Izmit with seaplanes and boats. In this context, a fine of 4 million 968 thousand 823 Turkish Liras was imposed on the Vanuatu-flagged dry cargo ship Abana, which was found to have polluted the sea during the inspection by seaplane.

METROPOLITAN SEA PLANE DETECTED

In the inspection of the seaplane of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in the evening hours, it was determined that a ship anchored in the Gulf of Izmit had released dirty ballast. The teams started an administrative sanction process on the Vanuatu-flagged dry cargo ship named Abana, which caused the pollution. In order to prevent the spread of pollution, precautions were taken by erecting barriers around the ship.
