Izmir Metropolitan Municipality once again extended the shelter period upon the request of earthquake victims, who were temporarily placed in Uzundere Residences, as their houses were damaged after the October 30 earthquake. With the decision approved at the last meeting of the City Council in August, the citizens here were granted the right of additional residence until the end of 2022.

After the earthquake that occurred in İzmir on October 30, 2020, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which opened the doors of Uzundere Mass Housing for families with shelter problems to spend the winter in a warm home, once again extended the sheltering period of the earthquake victims here. Families, who were placed in Uzundere Mass Housing in Karabağlar district for one year after the earthquake after the earthquake, and whose allocation period expired in November last year, will continue to live in these houses until the end of 2022, thanks to the extension of the period. Electricity, water and rent expenses of earthquake victims will be covered by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality again during this period.

The decision was unanimously approved at the last assembly meeting of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council in August.

The allocation period expired in November

After the 30 October Izmir Earthquake, 224 earthquake survivor families preferred to use Uzundere Mass Housing for one year free of charge among the options offered to them. All the belongings of the allocated houses were also given free of charge. As the rent was not collected from the earthquake survivor families placed here, the electricity, water, fuel bills and common expenses in the allocated houses were also covered by the municipality. At the end of the one-year allocation period, with the extension decision taken by the Municipal Council on 17.11.2021, the earthquake victims were granted the right to benefit from the residences for 6 more months under the same conditions, but at the end of this period, the requests for an extension were received.
