Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu visited the tunnel construction site between Toprakkale-Bahçe Stations of Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High Speed ​​​​Train Project. Karaismailoğlu, who received information about the project from the authorities, gave the good news that the Mersin-Gaziantep distance between Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High Speed ​​​​Train Project will decrease to 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Karaismailoğlu: We plan to complete our line in 2025 and open it to the service of our people. Our high-speed train line will be one of our most important lines logistically. A citizen of ours who gets on from Gaziantep or Osmaniye will have the opportunity to reach Europe via Mersin, Konya, Ankara and Istanbul, he said.

Noting that as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they continue to work 10/7 with the aim of raising Turkey among the 24 largest economies in the world, Karaismailoğlu said that they have implemented projects that the world follows with envy.

“We increased our railway length, which was 2003 thousand 10 kilometers in 959, to 13 thousand 50 kilometers. We are continuing our construction on a total of 4 kilometers of railway line.”

Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“Our railways have a historical and strategic importance beyond the economic and social life of this country and these lands. Our country, located in the Middle Corridor of the iron silk road between Asia and Europe, from China to London, is a center for international freight and passenger transportation. The investment we made for the development of our country's railways during the period of our governments is appreciated by everyone. We are knitting our country with iron nets again. We increased our railway length, which was 2003 thousand 10 kilometers in 959, to 13 thousand 50 kilometers. We are continuing our construction on a total of 4 kilometers of railway line. In addition, we continue the construction, tender and survey-project works on a total of 693 thousand 13 kilometers of railway line throughout the country.

“We have transformed our country into an international corridor in every mode of transportation”

Karaismailoğlu stated that they have transformed Turkey into an international corridor in every mode of transportation between Asia, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and the Caucasus and the Northern Black Sea countries.

Giant transportation projects such as Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Istanbul Airport, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line, Filyos Port, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Osmangazi Bridge, 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, Izmir-Istanbul, Ankara-Niğde and Northern Marmara Motorways have been successfully completed and put into service. Stating that it was opened, Karaismailoğlu said, "We invested nearly 3 billion 755 million lira for Osmaniye's transportation and communication investments. Between 2003 and 2022, we made a total railway investment of 2 billion lira in Osmaniye. We renewed the 55-kilometer railway between Yenice-Fevzipaşa-Narlı Line and Taşoluk-Fevzipaşa-Beyoğlu line in Osmaniye. In addition, we renewed the 46-kilometer railway on the İskenderun-Toprakkale line. He evaluated that we have completed the survey work of the railway junction line connection to the industrial facilities in the Çukurova Region and İskenderun Bay, Yumurtalık Free Zone Industrial Centers and ports.

Mersin-Gaziantep distance will be reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes, and Adana-Osmaniye distance will be reduced to 40 minutes.

Underlining that there is a 74-kilometer railway network within the provincial borders of Osmaniye, Karaismailoğlu gave the following information about Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High Speed ​​​​Train Project:

“Our Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High Speed ​​​​Train Project; Connecting the Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia Regions; We planned it as a double line, electrified and signaled line, suitable for 200 kilometers per hour. The works on this big project are currently continuing in 6 sections. The current distance between Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep is 361 kilometers. With the completion of the project, this distance will decrease to 295 kilometers, and the transportation time between the two lines will decrease from 6 hours and 23 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes. With the completion of the line, the Adana-Osmaniye travel time will also be reduced from 80 minutes to 40 minutes. The Toprakkale-Garden section of this great project will be 58 kilometers. On this line; There are 16 tunnels of 516 meters, 32 bridges and viaducts of 602 meters, as well as 6 under and overpasses. On the route; We achieved a physical progress of 30 percent in the infrastructure works of the 13-kilometer tunnel section. The infrastructure of the remaining 56 km route and the superstructure and Electrical-Signalization and Telecommunication works of the entire line will be completed by our General Directorate of Infrastructures. We plan to complete our line in 45 and open it to the service of our people. Our high-speed train line will be one of our most important lines in terms of logistics. In the next 2025 years, a citizen of ours who boards from Gaziantep, Osmaniye will have the opportunity to reach Europe via Mersin, Konya, Ankara and Istanbul.”

According to our 2053 Transportation and Logistics Master Plan; We will increase the share of passenger transportation on railways from 1 percent to 6,2 percent, the share of freight transportation from 5 percent to 22 percent, and the number of provinces with high-speed train connections from 8 to 52.

Explaining that as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they have adopted a multimodal system that complements each other in land, air, rail and sea lines, Karaismailoğlu said that they have determined the road maps for the next period in railway investments and targets, as in all transportation modes. “According to our 2053 Transport and Logistics Master Plan; Karaismailoğlu said that they will increase the share of passenger transportation in railways from 1 percent to 6,2 percent, and that they will increase the share of freight transportation from 5 percent to 22 percent and the number of provinces with high-speed train connection from 8 to 52. Expressing that they will increase the annual passenger transportation from 19,5 million to 270 million, Karaismailoğlu informed that the annual freight transportation will reach 55 million tons from 448 million tons.
